Hi all, I would like to introduce gel nails into my small beauty business (I currently specialise in facials and skincare).

I don't want to do acrylics etc, just gel nails. After some research it seems that The Gel Bottle may be a good brand to invest in as they are long-wearing and have a nice colour range.

I live in Spain and cannot see that they offer training here unfortunately and am not able to travel very easily to the UK due to work and child care commitments.

So I'm wondering if I would be able to take a generic gel nail course and use The Gel Bottle products. I'm guessing it's a very similar application and removal to the like of Shellac etc.

Any advice / feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

I was generically trained and use various different brands, so unless The Gel Bottle have special rules about it then it's not a problem.

Also make sure your course is a recognised accreditation otherwise you might encounter issue with suppliers. x

Thanks so much, really appreciate your thoughts. Have you had any experience with TGB?

I'm wondering if an online course may be good enough? I already have A&P and I don't want to do extensions and I haven't found a particularly great course here so wonder if I can get away with the theory online and then practice, practice, practice.

I haven't used TGB. I don't know about the accreditation of online courses, I wouldn't do one, but that's a personal choice. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thanks, appreciate your time x

You don't have to do the Gel Bottle's own training to buy their products but you do have to send them a copy of your qualification to show you are qualified.

As I understand it now, If new customers aren't qualified in hard gel or L&P applications you will only be able to buy their gel polishes, not their best selling Builder in a Bottle (BIAB) - as far as I am aware. To be honest it's a bit of a confusing situation so I would ask for clarification if you do purchase from them as beng able to use BIAB would be very worthwhile as it's an amazing product and can be used to give extra strength to natural nails under the gel polish.

I've bought BIAB from gel bottle. I have a qualification in Brisa gel from CND. I am not even using Brisa gel anymore, I've largely swapped over to Light Elegance and Lilly Nails. The distributors in the country I live ask that one's qualification wasn't just a weekend course without an exam. They often won't accept such a qualification if it's too short or doesn't have any form for testing. Therefore I think this all really depends on country. I can only speak from experience in Norway and Sweden.

I bought some products from TGB the other week including BIAB, all I had to do was upload a pic of one of my beauty qualifications and I was certified ‘pro’ which I believe means I can buy anything they sell now.
It was pretty easy however as everyone else has mentioned I’m sure they will only accept certain recognised certificates so be careful when choosing a generic nail course.

Their training course are only in the UK at the moment. As someone else has said, you just need to provide evidence that you're qualified. They are a pro only company so you won't be able to buy anything without proof.
