Yippee I can join in the loreal thread now. I'm up at the academy on Monday, we are having our Loreal in salon training on Wednesday.

Fingers crossed I'll be doing my Colour Specialist next year.

We are a Inoa only salon and have phases out Majirel, I find it quite think. But good news they are moving more towards refreshing with Dialight- thank good because taking though immediately freaks me out!

To be fair, it's about my own hair so I'll start another thread. I don't want to pollute this loreal one 😁 x

You'll love dialight, the toners are beautiful. To be fair where I've worked with colour touch in the past I found it hard taking through to the ends without worrying it would come out too dark. I really think dialight gives you more control.

Is there a Redken thread? x

Hey geeks, fab to see a L'Oreal chat :) I have been using L'Oreal for the last 10 years after moving from wella that I was trained in when I was doing my course at college but then went and worked in a salon and was L'Oreal trained, thought never went to the academy :( so that will be my next thing on the to do list as I feel with colours always changing and fashion changing its great to attend things to keep up knowledge. I am now self employed due to the salon I worked in and was running closed and I was at a lost with what to do and already had a client base so got my driving done and that was that lol I find with being self employed you lack confidence more as you don't have that other person to turn to for advise or second opinion and you don't trial colours as much.

I have a question if you don't mind giving some advise, I have been doing a client for many years now and we have been through many colours and she has always been very happy. We recently bleached bathed her hair colour out and started again as it was too Reddy so took it back to a plain base basically rather then colour on top of colour and you know what red is like to try and neutralise lol I have always used dial light or richesse on this client as she has 0 grey and likes the shine it gives and that it looks natural as it gradually fades. After bleach bathing I used a 7.01 and hint of base 6 all over with 7.13 in foils to give different cool tones. It didn't go khaki as I left a bit of a warm undertone so it wasn't yellow/white. However after a few full head applications of the 7.01 she has txt to say there is an orangey tone to the hair, the colour had been taking fab up until this time!! She likes it a cool dark blonde. I am now stuck with what to do or try next as she really doesn't want any warm tones.

I have a couple of ideas just thought I would ask for some advise or ideas and see if they are the same as what i was thinking :) many thanks in advance all and apologies for the essay. I have also posted it on here as its L'Oreal I use and that brand of colour I would like the advise on. xx

What's her natural base claire and what developer are you using?

Loreal training is magnificent! I completed my colour specialist last year, was a gruelling three months, but worth every minute!! Let's do some case studies!!

Used Inoa for first time and was happy with result. It felt sooooo thick In comparison to others, I emulsified before shampooing and it seems to take ages to move it if that makes sense but I was happy with it. Price is too much though

Can someone explain the dos and donts of effasor? Pros/cons maybe?

I have somebody later today. I already took some strand tests and all the home colours wouldn't budge with maji contrast red so another test I pre lightened to an red/orange and it lifted well. Is it ok to tone with maji contrast red & 10vol?
It's just for ends of hair/Balayage effect

So maybe 6/66 or similar?

5.66 dialight goes quite vibrant on prelightened hair 👍

I am mobile and taking over a number of clients for about 12/18 months from another hairdresser while she takes maternity leave.

She has only ever used L'Oreal and I use Goldwell and trained in Wella. She has written down what she has been using on each of the clients for me, as most of them want to carry on with their L'Oreal colours as they will eventually go back to Elaine.

I have been reading the L'Oreal technical manual and I have booked myself on some of their courses but they are not for a few weeks and I have got one client that I have just done a consultation for and am a bit unsure how to proceed.

She is a natural base 6 with about 70% white hair. For the past 10 years Elaine has been colouring her hair with Majirel using 1/2 base 7 and 1/2 7,4 with 20 vol. Elaine has never taken the colour through to the ends. She had some bleached highlights done in the middle of February and since then has just had her root regrowth done because she is worried about the condition of the bleached hair (it does seem to be quite dry).

So at the moment she has got just over 6 weeks re-growth, a band of the Majirel 7,4 of about 1 to 2 inches and then the faded out colour with bleached highlights.

She now wants to move away from the copper colour and go a level lighter. She is keen on trying majirel 8,31.

Having read the technical manual I am a little unsure why Elaine was using the base 7 with the 7,4 and not the base 7,3 or 7,03 as the technical manual says to use 7,3 as a base to cover 70% white hair when using the warm colours. The only thing that I can think of, is that she wanted to try and neutralise the copper tones a bit in the 7,4 as the client didn't want it too bright.

If I use the 8,31 with a base 8, will this turn it more into something like I imagine and 8,13 would be, and a bit flat? If I use the base 8,3 is this going to make it much more golden than using the 8,03 with the 8,31?

Sorry, so many questions. I think it will take a little time for me to get used to working with a new colour line...the courses can't come quick enough.

Molly
