Hi guys
I started a new course yesterday in IHM. Most of the girls have done beauty level 2 and I am so suprised at how many of them said they cant get a job as they have no confidence in what they do.

Why is this? Poor training? Not enough ambition for the job they want to do?

Then to my horror, whilst we were doing a task someone had actually said they would carry out an IHM with someone that had conjunctivitus :irked:
She said she just wouldnt touch the face. I explained to her that what if the client had rubbed her eye and then touched her hair? You have then got the bacteria on your hands which will then spread to yourself and/or other clients.
She just couldnt get her head around it

How do these people get qualified? I am horrified!!

There's a few core reasons why people come out of college without feeling confident, these mainly being:
  • Teachers without adequate experience of the job they're teaching.
  • Short courses trying to cover a huge number of treatments.
  • The lack of the underlying theory & science being taught.
  • Large classes containing people who are unlikely to cut it in the industry & those who are just there for an easy-ride.
Unfortunately this started when colleges became more interested in getting bums on seats & thus profit rather than turning out students capable of doing the job. They can't fail them all as they need to keep up in the results tables, so they end being passed - I've had work experience girls who have been passed on treatments they've never done, shocking really!
