Hi, we were practising thermal clay mask at college today and I offered to be the model, well..............all was ok whilst they were applying it, although the mask was quite watery due to them running out of mask powder, I was asked if I could feel it heating up, but couldnt feel any heat at all, when they tried to remove the mask it got stuck and it felt like someone was ripping my skin off my face, it was an awful experience, but the tutor seemed to think that it was because the edge of my face wasnt oiled properly before, but it was literally stuck to every inch of my face, does anybody know WHY this happened ? is it possible that because the mask was so watery it seeped to much through the gauze ?

I don't know, but the tutor on seeing that it was painful to remove should have instructed the student to apply some warm water to help ease it off better.

I think you should apply a lot of oil to the face before the gauze and the clay. And maybe some vaseline around the hairline. But the mask may have stuck to the fine downy hairs on your skin. It's not my favourite mask to give or receive and it's probably a good thing you had this bad experience because you may choose not to offer it! (If that makes sense!) x
