hi

can anyone give me some tips on waxing thighs?

i'm happy with a 1/2 leg wax and getting better each time. my only problem is i only have one person so far that gets a full leg wax so i'm not getting the practice i'd like on this area

i have both the pot and roller wax. finding it easy to do the bottom of the legs with the roller but quite tricky with the thighs

i have a full leg tomorrow

thanks :)

What is it your are struggling with? Make sure you keep the skin on the thighs (especially inside thigh) very taught or you can cause bruises, make sure you press the strip firmly on to the wax before ripping it off, try putting a TINY amount of oil on the area first, this will make the treatment much more comfortable for your client as the wax will only stick to the hairs and not to the skin as much.

hi

i feel like the way i apply it isnt the best. where as the bottom of the leg i apply the wax straight down and have a good way of applying it and taking it off. i'm finding i'm pretty random with the tops and because i'm not getting the practice its different everytime i do it

Try to be methodical.

If you use hard wax, it can be much gentler on the inner thigh, but don't worry if you don't have it, just make sure you stretch well.

If I were doing an upper leg, I would wax the fronts of the thighs first - applying the wax straight down. Then inner things (in bikini wax position). Then if the client is willing, get them to raise one knee up to the chest ( they need to grip it firmly behind the knee - this creates a nice stretch in the back of the thigh) then wax the back of the upper thigh. Do the same the other side. Then get the client to lie on their side and wax the side of the thigh, following the hair growth. Ditto other side. Then turn the client over and finish by waxing the lower half of the back of the thigh.

i've heard about jasmine oil but i've not got any yet. would nomal oil do?

You can use any oil but preferably something lightweight. And only a tiny amount. If you use too much, blot it!

that technique sounds great zozo, i've got my leg in all positions whilst sitting at the kitchen window with the curtains open!!!!

When applying wax to the thigh, its important to make sure the wax is applied thinly and evenly, if the skin is taught and the wax is at the correct temperature it should go on lovely and smooth. As ZoZo said, try to work methodically. I find that, depending on the client, keeping the knee bent when waxing the bottom half of the thigh it keeps the skin taught without you having to stretch too much.

When doing the backs of the thighs, the skin at the top towards the bottom is usually less firm, so asking the client to raise their knee to thier chest when they are on their front pulls the area nice and taught which makes it much easier.

I hope this makes sense!!

Thighs can be a nightmare if you don't have a system.

I wax the sides and the top of the thigh with the leg laying straight. Then turn the leg outwards so that you can get to the inner thigh easily. I'm right handed, so with my left hand, I place the flat of my hand on the front of the thigh and pull the skin downwards as though I'm pulling it over the outer edge of the thigh, so that it lifts the inner thigh upwards towards me.

I then apply wax to just the inner thigh really thinly. Take a clean strip, remove small pieces and keep to a system......be methodical.

When working on any sensitive area, make sure your strip isn't loaded as this will tug on the skin and cause bruising. The trick it to always stretch the skin, keep your wax thin and your strip clean.

I never ever get my clients to help as it slows me down and they put their hand in the wax. I do all the stretching. xx

If you look on you tube you will see Kim waxing inner thighs at a filmed workshop at professional beauty.Just type in Kim Lawless and a few will come up.
You can also see Andy Rouillard waxing men and there are some Lori Nestore clips as well from the whole ball of wax. They are all great to watch and give excellent professional tips especially helpful for new waxers.

wow, thats excellent. thats the exact part of the thigh i have bother with and its good to see how she gets it spread so evenly.

thats why i've been using my roller. we didn't seem to get taught at college to place the wax on like that then spread down. i always seem to get it all in the one place but that way makes more sence.

looking forward to trying out these new ways
