Hey everyone im looking for a bit of advice. I currently have my own salon which I've just opened and im working on my own which i hate. I want to work with someone again and be able to bounce ideas off each other and also be able to take holidays without tearing my hair out and stressing about it. I've put alot of money and time into the business so not sure how i would go about doing it. Do you have to have someone pay their way into it?

Also in the way of rent what happens? and also pay? Do you just keep the money from your own clients and pay in for products.

What does everyone think?

If you have a business partner, it means part of your profits go to them too. Why did you not want a partner in the first place?

If you want someone to bounce ideas off, why not ask your boyfriend/husband (if you have one) or a friend or us geeks?

If you are wanting holidays etc, is self employment for you? You must have been under no illusions that holidays would be tough to find over the next year or two. But get your head down, work hard and soon enough you'll be able to manage it.

Im just concerned as to WHY you want a partner, most people it would be for money, but you've already set up. I just think...if I set up a business myself, I don't wanna share the profits with anyone. My personal opinion.

I totally agree with Kim, never take a partner unless you have to. Yes they should buy into the business if they come in.
What you are describing that you want, is a good employee. Would that not be a route worth exploring first? Helluva lot cheaper than a partner.

Totally agree, a partner isn't the way to go just because you feel lonely. Why not get either an employee or do a rent-a-space deal with another tech. She will just pay you a set amount for her space or a percentage of her takings.

I cant afford to take a member of staff on at the minute and im just sooo stressed!! Everything seems to be going wrong all at once. I came in today and the light blew was the 1st thing. Then I switch on my business phone and it decides to compleatly break on me!! I cant switch it on and it has all of my clients contact numbers in. The printers I use all the time were supposed to have my invitations printed and sent out to me by now for the new salon launch party next wednesday and she's only just got them printed now which is nowhere near enough time for me to recieve them and send them out in the post to clients. ARGH!!!

Im really quiet at the minute as well and need to find how to get more clients in. I haven't taken a holiday for 2 years now and have bought myself nothing new at all. Every penny goes straight back into the business. Im just finding things very tough at the minute and clients aren't helping matters either by cancelling last minute and some not at all.

Im just having a very very tough time at the minute and i've never actually thought about giving up before but im sick as a chip at the minute

Oh dear. Being in business can be so tough. Each of those problems taken singly can be sorted. Altogether they overwhelm.
We all go through times that we question ourselves and our abilities. This will pass and things that seem huge today will be forgotten.

A friend of mine is in the same situation as you - has her own salon, works alone, can't afford to employ someone etc. But its has got to the point where she is struggling by herself. So basically she asked me for some help and I've only been going in maybe once a week to help out. Rather than her employing me, I suggested that she 'hire' me for single days as a self employed therapist (basically when she can afford it), a bit like when I did some contract work at a shop in town. At the end of the week I send her an invoice. Of course I still put my own business first and work round that.

Once get is another lost. Now that you have got an aim, just make some progress firstly. You will have the time for the another.
