hi guys

i did my threading course a month ago i have been practising loads and can shape really well although i am aware i am slow and probably more painful under the eyebrow that on the tops or middle of the brow.

how long did it take for you to feel 100% confident and get your speed up? clients have been asking about the upper lip but when i had mine done in my training it really hurt is thet cos we were training and slow?

my main question is a had a lady come in who had not touched her eyebrows for a year so they were quite out of shape and fluffy. i went a head did threaded them and she said it wads really painful. in that situation do you wax, then tell them to come back when theres less regrowth or just explain it will hurt more this time than the nxt?

thanks again guys xx

When you place the thread you need to press the thread against the skin as you work,
if you are hovering the thread at all (even in the slightest) this will cause it to hurt more,
speed will come with experience, try changing the length of thread you work with so it is a comfortable length for you and your hands,

for your fluffy browed lady i would have explained to her that it would be more comfortable for her to have the most of the brow waxed and then i would have finished with some threading for her so she felt she had got what she asked for,

i do think threading hurts and i used to always worry about this before even touching the client,
once i got past the worry and just got on with it i found the treatment a lot easier to do, hth

Thank you hun,

the training i had was one day and showed us 3 diffrent techniques and we couldnt go until we had taking out individual eyebrow hair.

now you mention it i dont put the thread right on the skin so thats why im getting a twanging look.

thank you again x

That will be it hun,
you need to press that thread up to the skin real close

just to butt in on your post :green: my daughter had this done today the lady was very fast and they are a lovely shape but she said it killed and that i had to wax them from now on ! is it normal for it to hurt this much as i would have loved to train in it

I wont have it done but i will happily wax any area of my body without much of a flinch lol,
i find even the Asian and Indian ladies who are very used to having it done all have tears they need to wipe away and i don't mean just my clients, i have watched lots of (qualified) people do it and get the same reaction so yes i think it is normal,
it takes a lot longer than waxing too, with waxing it is over in seconds but threading takes longer so i think this is why people find it more painful, hth

Hi Geeks

I have been having my eyebrows threaded for years and like louise's post I always have a tear in my eye but i just cant use wax as I look like i have been in a fight my eyes swell up so like they say no pain no gain but it does get better in time not as painfull (both my eyes used to stream down my face) its over in a few minutes.

hth

god my daughter was quite tough then as she had no tears :)

I just had to say that I love you Loubylou, in a good way of course, not in a peculiar stalking type of way. You always talk sense and tell it how it really is. I have seen it written that threading does not hurt, of course it does! All this does is make new girls think they are doing something wrong and they lose their confidence.

I agree with you totally, I can wax myself anywhere without breaking sweat but threading, no thankyou!

Aww thanks hun :o
i love you and all the other geeks here too (in a good, normal way of course, lol )

I have been threading for over ten years now and have to say my clients are always very surprised how little it hurts. They have usually heard many horror stories of how painful it is, but I never have this complaint. If you talk to your clients and get them to hold their skin tight whilst threading it is less painful then waxing. Also I find that in-experience does not help when it comes to threading, it leads to people pressing down with the thread on the skin too hard, which leads to the skin being pinched. :irked:

I had threading done nearly two weeks ago. My eyebrows looked lovely and didn't hurt at all. I had my face done which did hurt and i flinched a few times, however when she started my top lip i nearly jumped out the chair in pain, the lady just stopped and waxed with out even asking. (i didn't mind due to pain, lol)
My face has broken out in spots quite bad which i have never ever had not even in my teens. I dont know if its due to threading or a new moisturiser and cleanser bar i have.

weve been doing threading since we opened. and the lady he does it has been doing it for over 15 years. she always tells them it will hurt abit but you'l get used to it the more you do it.

you will feel something obviously as you are pulling the hair out which cant be avoided.

ive found so far that with the clients it depends on what they expect.

the clients that come in and people have said told them it doesnt hurt at all. are the ones that are suprised and then say it hurt as they didnt expect it

but the ones who have been told horror stories about how bad it is are that say 'oh it hardly hurt'.
