why does it?
Is it better to buff the acrylic shiny ? Than apply a top coat or would a hard gel top coat be better

Personally I prefer to buff, I've not had complaints of discolouration, cracking, crazing, etc that people mention as I only buff

How can it stain though ?im confused? As acrylic is porous isn't it? But hard gel isn't? Have I got that wrong?

The buffed and glossed (with decreasing grit and glossing buffers) acrylic isn't as porous as unfinished, plus if anything does discolour it a quick whizz over with a buffer again sorts it. Top Coat wise it varies, some are more resistant, cheap ones often don't have UV inhibitors so yellow quite badly. Its also a looks thing too, I think topcoated nails look 'bloated' - others like it...its a personal thing i suppose

A non wipe/tack free topcoat won't stain.
