Tinting and patch tests

hi everyone. im a mobile therapist and some of my clients want tinting doing, i have done them before at the salon i use to work at. do you think i should still do a patch test? my tint is strickly proffessional and the tint i used at the salon was hive. do you think this makes a difference?

I think you should test them again especially since it is a different kind or get them to sign a disclaimer.
Doesnt your insurance insist that you do a patch test before tinting a client for the first time?

You should alway always do a patch test, i was taught before every treatment. It doesn't matter what brand you use, it's the clients reaction that's the important thing.

Yes it does make a difference. Different brands of tint may well contain different ingredients, so it's vital to patch test all clients when you change brands. You'd probably find that if you don't do a patch test and document it, you wouldn't be covered by your insurance. Disclaimers will not stand up in court if the worst should happen. It's just not worth the risk, in my opinion.

Yes I agree with everyone else! You should always patch test 24-48 hours before any tinting or tanning treatment, I always insist this needs to be done, I also get them to sign their signature on their record cards when I have done the tests, and I write down what the test was for and where the test was placed. Not worth the risk...!

i was taught you always patch test 24-48 hours before any tinting if there has been changes or its been a while since you have tinted the client.

I had a client come for an eyelash tint (already been tested) and her friend came too, she wanted hers doing without the patch test because she has had it done elsewhere before and was fine, I refused to do it without testing and the next day she called to cancel her appointment because she reacted very badly to the patch test, she said she nearly clawed her skin off it was so itchy, thank goodness I tested her first, can you imagine what her eyes would have felt like with the tint on!!!! :suprised:

A perfect example of why it is so important to patch test. Good on you for being professional enough to say no and insist she have a patch test first x
