Hi

I was wondering if other (thicker)acrylic powders could be used with the tip and dip method? I am thinking of trying it will coloured acrylics. If I do this would it be best to just use one coat of resin and one dip in the powder to avoid getting the build up too thick? If this is the case would they then only be classed as party nails?

Thank you for your help.

Hi hun,

my original training was with the edge using the tip and dip system! i have used loads of different coloured powders and never had a problem. i was told on my training that it was fine to use other powders that are intended for L&P. i know the powders that are made for tip and dip are finer but the usual ones work just as well! (When using different make powders i always use a resin from the same brand).

i always dip twice as this was the way i was taught. i did experiment and only dip once but the nails were quite weak so i always dip twice. try a nail on yourself dipping once on one nail and twice on another nail and have a look at the difference.

That's great Jodie, thanks so much. It's the Edge system that I am thinking of using so it's good to know that you have experience with this and are (presumably) getting good results.

hi hun,

i trained with the edge but i must admit i quickly moved away from the brand. im NOT slatting it but there are much better brands out there that are of superior quality. for my tip and dip i use NSI attraction powders as they are muchg better quality and imo are just sooo much easier/nicer to work with. i didnt really have any issues with the edge products but i was given a some NSI attraction and ive never looked back since.

just out of interest did you train with the edge?

No, I am currently training with Essential Nails using the fibreglass system. I've heard good things about the Edge generally and saw a tip and dip kit on their website so was considering purchasing that, but maybe I will look at NSI now. Thanks for your feedback on that.

If you are interested in tip and dip systems, another brand you would do well to consider is Backscratchers extreme glaze. :)

Thanks Deena, I had heard that they are good and I know by some, are considered the best. I think I need to have a qualification before I can purchase from them though but I am working on that :wink2:

Hi guys,

Sorry to just jump in on this thread! I thought NSI Attraction was for L&P? Do they work well with dipping then? I was trained in NSI for acrylic and fibreglass, but for the life of me cannot get on with acrylic at all, so I now use Backscratchers tip and dip (which is fantastic), but I love the NSI colours!

What products do you use for a set of NSI tip & dip i.e. resin, files etc?

Thanks guys,

D* xXx
