Have been waxing for a few months but mostly eyebrows, underarm and bikini waxes, my timings are spot on, but when it comes to legs, my timings seem to go to pot, i'm probably taking approx an extra 15 mins to complete the treatment. Anyone have any tips on how i can improve my timings?

I apply wax to the whole of the front of the leg then remove & then same again on the back which saves a lot of time!

Thanks for that, i'll try that next time.

I do a similar thing;

Apply wax to the shins of both legs and wax off
Apply to the fronts of both thighs and wax off
Ask the client to bend their knees so you can do these, then get them to drop their knees to one side, so you can do all down the outside of one leg and all down the inside of the other; then get them to put their knees to the other side so you can repeat...
Then turn them over, and wax all over the backs of the legs.

Took a few clients to get used to this way, but it saves so much time!! I also find that you will appear more professional and confident if you wax in a similar way to this...the "college way" (1 strip of wax, remove, then another bit of wax on, remove etc) is very ineffective time-wise!

Get practising! Good luck! XXX

A good tip for the thighs ... is before asking the client to flip over onto their tummy .... ask them to grasp their knee and pull up to their chest and then wax the top of the back thigh in this position... the leg is taught.. and it is so much easier and more comfortable for the client.

Got that tip from Lori Nestore... :)

This is a brilliant tip. Thanks Jen!

After you have done the fronts get them to turn on their sides, its much better doing it this way then theres no chance of missing any hair.
Obviously you then turn them onto their tummys to do the backs!!

When starting with the lower leg, apply wax from above the knee at the sides, all the way down to the ankle. Do this on both sides of the knee, then apply from under the knee down to the ankle for the front. Then, when you come to bend the knee to wax, you have just the knobbly bit of the knee to do and where the leg creaes, it's already been waxed.

Apply your wafer thin and cover the entire lower front of the leg and remove.

When doing the fleshy part of the inner thigh, remove the wax in small pieces and reall stretch the skin to avoif brusing. Particularly on this body part, DON'T let your strip get loaded with wax as this will become sticky and could lead to bruising. Better still, you could use non strip wax on inner thighs as it's much better for the client.

I am going to do this next time I have a leg wax ... I had a lady in two nights ago who's legs were a little fleshy and with the humidity I found the wax quite sticky and I did struggle with the strip wax on the inner thigh. I will try using the non strip the next time .. especially if its still so darn hot. Good tip.. thanks Kim

I love this tip - so simple..... why didn't I think of that?!

also, dont remove your strips from the bottom of the area you have applied wax to, start at the top. just make sre you keep a firm grip on your strip otherwise you will stick the whole thing down lol. this just means you can avoid any stringy bits and u dont get in a mess!

Based on this advice is it therefore, wiser to have two wax heaters on the go at the same time? I have one wax heater and trolley but have two wax pots which I have been interchanging depending on which I'm using ie. hot or strip wax.

Budget is limited but it would seem that I am really likely to need both hot and warm on the go at same time to be efficient?

I am not sure I understand this Kate. Could you clarify please? I am trying to picture this in my head, lol, but surely if you remove your strips from the top, where stretch is needed below this, there will be wax and therefore sticky fingers?

its hard to explain, i just do i without thinking.

I have a double heater i would say i use both waxes for pretty much every area as there is usually at least one wee bit where even if your using strip wax non strip would do a better job and vice versa.

Also saves money on the euroblonde as if it's the only one on then you might use it for things that strip woulda done x

I also don't understand Kate... I always start at the ankles and work around the leg then move up to the next level ie work across instead of up and down so that i can always hold tight without getting covered in wax x

i just kinda hold the skin from above aswell...

ive always done it like that, so i guess afte doing something for so many years you dont really look at how you do it and just get on with it lol.

some excellent advice on here already given

ditto jen and kim i do this and it saves no end of time.

i always have 2 wax pots on the go, 2 x 1000cc pots - 1 full of my berins blue and the other my berins ease.

i then can swap between the 2 depending on the needs of my clients skin.

Yes, two wax pots. One for strip wax and one for non strip wax. I have 4 pots on the go but two is fine if you do other treatments and are not waxing all day. xxx

I have three wax pots.. 2 x 1000 wts and 1 500 wt but tend to just have two large ones on the go and just top up as necessary during the day if I have a particularly busy waxing day. My trolley would be way too crowded with more than my three pots on the go... it feels too busy with three on, so I tend to keep the third on a separate stand just as a spare.
