Hey,

I would appreciate tips on how to gain clients. I have done little things such as putting a leaflet in the foyer of the apartment I live in/ gym I go to, do friends and family which has helped a little as I realise alot of business does come from word of mouth. But I'm running out of ideas now as I appreciate the beauty industry is a competetitive one. I am currently doing nails after work/weekends when people acually need them done (which is a bit slow at the min). I would love to be able to quit work to do this full time but at the moment I cant see it ever happening  I would prefer to do it from home/visits - how did everyone else gain their clientelle?

Help much appreciated x

Hey,

I'm wondering if your willing to spend some money on advertising i would relly recommend yell.com. I started my business 6 months ago & I've found that 80% of my clients are from that & now i'm starting to get word of mouth recommendations. You can do monthly direct debit payments too so you don't have to pay it all in one go. I would recommend a website too, I done mine with Mr Site, you can get it from PC World & it costs 25 quid. It gives you everything you need to set up your own website, its good if you can't afford alot to start off with! My website is www.kellysnailsandbeauty.com have alook and see what you think?

It will take a while though to build up, so don't get too dishearted. Hope this helps xx:green:

Ooooh..... thank you for your tips!! I really found the website tip really useful - I didnt realise how cheap it was to set up your own site! And I will definitely look into the yell.com suggestion. Thank you! x

No probs, good luck with everything. Let me know how you get on xx:)

You could also advatise on your car My friend got a magnet made for around £25 quite cheap realy. It can be easily be stuck on and off your car when u want. My friend realised since see did this she got quite alot of calls (more then usual) and now has around 25 loyal clients who first contacted her by thr car advert.

Good luck

I hope this advice helps

Thats a good idea, where did she get one of those done? xx

I get lots of stuff from Vista Print online. They have really good prices, and then once you order, you get coupons of free items and 25% off. They have lots of marketing items and lots of nail type graphics to choose from. I got 100's of their post cards with my information on it and a small discount and mailed them to everyone I know and lots of random people too. After I ordered my first batch I got a coupon for 100 free postcards and sent them out again. I do this every once and awhile, and I really do get a lot of people coming in with the card.

For really cheap car magnets and all sorts of advertising materials go to Vistaprint.

Vistaprint seems to be popular! Will have a nose at it now. Thanks for all the tips girls - really appreciate it!! :) xx

also when you oreder from vista get loads of brochures or rack cards then go to your local paoer shop and ask them to put them in your local paper, i do that and it costs me a quid for 50, go in everyshop if they dont do papers then ask them if you can leave a few on the counter most of them will do this free of charge but be prepared you need to spend good money to advertise, also ask the local paper if they can put a printed advert in there and do special offers as this attracts the skingey , i hope you do well and the clients are banging on your door.

I've just been on vista and I am on the brink of ordering postcards and car magnet. Can't beleive how much you get for your money compared to some places!! Theres some really great designs too. Thats a great tip, I didn't actually think of that... everyone has a nose on paper shop windows etc! lol.
