Hi All,

How long did it take you all to feel confident and happy with applying Tips? ive been trained with bio sculpture for year and half and am really confident with overlays and love doing them but i just hate doing tips.

Help! x

I have only been doing nails since 2004 and i would say i felt better about tips after 1 year...I feel good about tips now but have to admit to sometimes, with some nails, almost having my heart in my throat when applying them...but, thankfully they turn out just fine.

I think it is all about practise and confidence...the more you do them the better you will get....same as sculpting.

What is it you hate about them?

Crumbs, with the new Performance tips that CND have, which have no well and need no blending, it could hardly be easier.

And as for good old Velocity tips ... there has never been an easier or faster tip to blend.

Maybe you would find tips easier if you used high quality user friendly ones?

Performance tips have saved my sanity. I used to struggle with tip blending, even velocity tips used to give me trouble, it was the pre-blending that I couldn't do properly.

I've only been qualified for six months though, so I was determined to stick with it and get better at blending, but then I got some free samples of performance tips. They are amazing, like Geeg said no blending required, and I find the fit and shape of them great too.

I used performance tips for the first time last week they are fab i always used velocity before but i hate blending:green:

I never really had any issues applying tips. Blending for me was were I was terrified, didnt want to file the nn etc. What is it that scares you? is it getting them on straight, air bubbles? Angles? Maybe someone could help make it easier for you!

I never pre blend any kind of tip.

strange - i always pre tailor my tips. I always believed that the less tip on the stronger the enhancement.

so by thinning the tip the less plastic - the stronger the enhancement ... NO?

Is it not the product that is stronger - than adhesive????

would not the enhancement be stronger if there was less tip???

Pre tailoring and preblending are two different things.

Pre-tailoring is fitting the tip perfectly by altering it.
Pre-blending is removing plastic and thinning before you adhere it to the nail so there is less blending on the nail once it is adhered.
I blend tips without ever touching the natural nail; therefore I do not have to PRE-blend them before adhering them.
If you have the skill, you do not have to thin in advance ... you do it all when it is on on the nail.
Of course, the tip is then thin before you apply the product so it is a stronger enhancement. Nothing to do with adhesive.

Thanks Guys.
I dont like blending for a start, i find it very time consuming and i dont feel like i do it properly, then when i feel its blended i sanitize the nails and you can still see a faint line, i also do get a few air bubbles and i dont think that i have ever put a tip on that has not had 1 air bubble.
So with these performance tips, are these the clear ones that you dont need to blend? where can i get them, they sound like heaven with not having to blend!

xx

They can be bought from CND/Sweet Squared 08452106060

However I am a firm believer in being competent at every stage and sometimes you need to blend tips.

If you are getting air bubbles, and blending is time consuming then you have not been taught the correct procedures and yo are not using fab quality tips.. This is very basic and if you don't get the basics right then nothing will be right.

As for blending taking loads of time ?? I would think I blend a full set of Velocity tips in less than 10 minutes. If I can you can. It is just a matter of learning how to use your file correctly.

Buy a copy of this book ... nailclass by gigi rouse ... mundo
It will help you with technique.

I think I was confused with my terminology. I never have trouble blending tips, it is the pre-tailoring that I have trouble with - reducing contact area if necessary and tailoring the sides of the tip. I know the problem is with the way I'm holding the tip and file, but can't seem to get this right.

At the moment I'm using performance tips on clients if possible, so that I can do the nail service confidently and well, but when doing my own nails I'm still using velocity tips so I can continue practicing with them.
