Hi I’m doing my sisters hair at the weekend she is a base shade of around 7/8. She has quite a lot of regrowth and some bleach at the mid lengths and ends. I’m thinking 12/1 as she has quite a lot of red in her hair. I’ve uplaoded a pic. Can someone tell me if I am on the right track. She wants highlights. I am newly qualified from college and before someone jumps on me I am going to be getting salon experience after Xmas. My plan is to take a good few inches off the length. She wants a nice ash blonde.

If she’s a natural strawberry blonde then a highlift won’t cut it. You need bleach.

Bleach will be your best option. But if you were to use highlift, I'd personally go with 12/89 or 12/81 not 12/1. In wella the /1 is quite a lazy tone especially in the 12/1. It doesn't neutralise warmth. It very lightly subdue warmth, but your end result will still be quite warm. Good luck
