Hello all, i have a question about tools of the trade! On my acrylic college course we are just using an orange stick and dry prep to prepare to nail, no cuticle remover/pusher etc. I have a couple of books and read lots on here and i know this isnt really sufficient when it comes to real clients. I am going to do a man/ped course after with a company (CND or NSI most probably) and i know that when i do this i will need to bring such tools with me. Alan howards have a VAT free day next monday and im wondering if its worth investing in some then. What i dont know is which ones are best to get. There seem to be so many - curette, pusher, nipper, probe etc so please could someone advise whats best to invest in, or if i should wait until i get round to taking another course. If i get them i can take to college and the tutor can show me what to do, just dont want to waste my money on something i don't need.
Thank you for any help :)

To be honest, what prep you need to do differs vastly from system to system, so I would decide on who you are going to train with and give them a shout and ask what they advise you stock up on. I made many expensive mistakes buying as I thought I needed 'more advanced' tools when i was training....only to later discover I had bought something i would never use or was going to be sulied on a course!

Save your pennies for now....put it aside for further training and stick with what your course teaches just for now. Then you can make a more informed investment when you know what you are doing.

If you really need to buy something, then an investment into a good pushie is probably all you need for a first step...but then again I'm not sure the wholesalers sell the best ones anyway!

We are using young nails to train with so i can give them a call and ask their opinion, thank you! You are right about the wholesalers i expect lol! I'm lucky to be training using reputable products so i suppose its silly to use inferior products!
