Hello fellow Geeks,

Ooh I'm a bit nervous... Not done this before!

Firstly, there have been a few 'nasties' lately, so I thought I'd try to bring back some love and respect.

Secondly, I searched TPTW and nothing like this has appeared so here goes:

The following are the reasons behind the questions

Sometimes, I build a picture in my head of how someone should look either through the phone or even reading a book and envisaging the main character. Usually, I'm way off...

I have met a few geeks in person and feel truly blessed and humbled by their 'niceness'

Without a***-licking, have you ever met a fellow geek in person and if so

1) where they what you expected (face value)?

2) have they influenced you in a positive way?

3) are you still in touch?

4) have you ever worked together?

5) did it go horribly wrong?

Obviously, I DO NOT want a slagging match so if it wasn't positive, please do NOT name & shame but if there is anyone that is deserving of a bit of good publicity then please share.

I'm going to answer, just to give you an idea... In this instance, I shall dedicate this to MaddisonsMummy

1) where they what you expected (face value)?

Not at all, the profile pic came up too small as I normally use my husband's iTouch. I was expecting someone Egyptian! I have absolutely NO idea why or even where the Hell that came from!

2) have they influenced you in a positive way?

Yes, we have become good friends. Personally, we see each other often for a cuppa & fag and to let our kids play together. Professionally, we went to the GMEX together, we discussed stuff to buy and MM advised me NOT to waste money on something that I wasn't sure about. Also, we service swap to try new things out on each other and have a good ol' rant and rave when business is quiet.

MM always cheers me up and is great with parenting advice, though never go shopping with her... The woman is on a mission! :Scared:

We live a few roads away from each other but rather than compete, we try to promote each other and it's really refreshing to have a friend like that.

3) are you still in touch?

Obviously yes, MM was at my wedding in September, her gorgeous husband did my wedding photography and I totally adore her daughter who shall become my daughter in law in about 20 years!

4) have you ever worked together?

Yes, today.

5) did it go horribly wrong?

YEAH!!! LOL, not really... We could have done better taking-wise but we could have done worse.

I wasn't feeling that great emotionally, but I did a mini back massage on MM and she did a mini facial on me so people could see what we were about today and MM just made me feel almost euphoric.

My headache went, my skin felt awake, I felt relaxed and it really had a positive impact on me.

Within 5 minutes of getting off her couch, my first client walked in...

So, MaddisonsMummy, I salute YOU!

Without SG, we may never have met and I am so glad we did.

H x

Matt Taylor

1) where they what you expected (face value)?

Yes, but more gorgeous in real life

2) have they influenced you in a positive way?

Yes, Matt has empathised with me over a little personal matter and educated me on Eve Taylor

3) are you still in touch?

We talk on here and Facebook

4) have you ever worked together?

No, but if there ever was an opportunity, I would jump at it

5) did it go horribly wrong?

N/A

DandelionPoppy

1) where they what you expected (face value)?

Yes, but more posher LOL

2) have they influenced you in a positive way?

Very much so... made me feel like part of a family and after moving so far away from my family and friends, I really needed it

3) are you still in touch?

Yes although we so need to grab a cuppa together

4) have you ever worked together?

Yes

5) did it go horribly wrong?

Not at all... I am actually really blessed. Wish I was busier but it will come. Patience and advertising is what is needed in our case.

How lovely!
Moi? Posh?
Know 2 Geeks in person, and they have more than lived up to my expectations of them. Bless you.
Feel that I know a special few more, not local- some very far away! -to me, but their positivity, humour and genuine charm have touched me and enriched my Geek-life. xxx

Cant remember all the sub headings but I have had the pleasure of meeting a few geeks over the past 4 years.

Pazzy was extremely helpful to me when I started doing facials, she answered all my questions patiently and gave me suggestions.
She came to visit me at my room and I was impressed with her knowledge and her SOH. She is one professional geek.
We keep in touch and am hoping to see her today.......havent been out for a drink or socialise yet.

I wish more geeks lived near me?!

Twickenham...?!

Thanks for your answers so far... Anyone else?

3) are you still in touch?

Yes mostly on FB but some by phone, email and in person. Spain is a long way away. But there is no need to not be in touch these days with so many ways to keep`in touch.

4) have you ever worked together?

Many times with many.

5) did it go horribly wrong?

I have only had one bad experience with teaching someone who visited me who was a complete waster and a complete user ... but you win some and you loose some. That's life.

Only with one who had a case of the old Green eyed monster and decided to cut me out of her life, but as I said before their loss not mine. Hasn't affected me and who I am today

Hoping you can add me to your list in the new year busybee

I can't really take part in this properly, as I have only met Gigi and well, I think we all know what a positive influence that would have been, would love to be able to see Gigi more often. Maybe we should do a Mad Geeks abroad group holiday and all go visit :D Lol!

I haven't met anyone else but have already built fabulous friendships with some geeks on here and in such a short time. I have been made to feel really welcome by many of the geeks here and I hope I get to meet more geeks over time.

Great thread

1) where they what you expected (face value)?
I met Dee, formerly of the UK and now living in ON/Canada. She's even crazier than I thought, and much more laid back. She's absolutely adorable and makes me smile, even if she's yelling at me (in humour of course:wink2:). Her hubby is a doll too! Last, I want to munch on her children LOL

2) have they influenced you in a positive way?
Always, she makes me smile and encourages me, as have many geeky pals

3) are you still in touch?
Daily :)

4) have you ever worked together?

Nope, but I'm sure it would be great fun LOL She'd probably tell me I was a bully all day long LMFAO

5) did it go horribly wrong?
Hmmmm nah, it couldn't if we ever did. We're both straight up and would always be able to talk it out.

I would dearly LOVE to meet more geeks. They have contributed to my life in a most positive fashion; professionally AND personally (HEY! They sent me M&S Humbugs for my wedding bonbonniers! THAT'S special and still makes me cry!). They have supported me, encouraged me, smiled with me and laughed at me. They have kicked my ass when I needed it. I LOVE my Geeks.
Of course, there's one in particular that I WAS supposed to meet and I was terribly excited over it, telling my closest friends and family. BUT unfortunately, life and schedules got in the way of things.
I won't tell you whom, but when she finally does get to visit, I'LL BE SCREAMING from the rooftops, I'll be so excited!

One day, when I win the loto OR become some awesomely famous geek training folks around the world :wink2::lol: I'll fly across the great pond and do a tour of the UK. Be forewarned, I expect Bed & Breakfast and lots of fun from you folks hehehehehe I can't wait to meet more of you!!

ps: let me know if ever you're in town. We'll have a grand time.
xoxo

I like the idea of a Geek holiday. Personally I think you should all come to me!

I have met 2 geeks, I met one on my CND conversion course and both geeks have done my nails :) Both have influenced me in a positive way as I know that if I need it they would be there to support me. Also I cannot stop talking when I've been in their company! Haha sorry girls!

There are so many geeks that I would love to meet, you're all such an amazing bunch and you have influenced my career in many ways without realising it! Some of you I have struck up friendships with too :) I will look forward to meeting more of you in the future.

Love and respect to you all geeks :D
