I have been for 2 interviews and have trade tests for both this week so am really nervous as I havent had a trade test before.
One is for a nail tech and she has told me what to bring but the other is a beauty therapy job and she has said to bring any tools/equipment necessary but I dont know what to to take?
I was thinking tweezers, cuticle nippers, cuticle knife, hoof stick, facial sponges

Do you think I need to take gloves/apron and can you think of anything else that I might need to take with me.

I am really nervous and dont want to forget anything as this will just make me panic even more.

Thanks in advance

when ive been for a trade test i havent needed to take stuff with me, i used the salons stuff. ive found that the treatments you usually do are things like mini facials, file and polish, and waxing. be prepared to do a colour and a french, either could come up.
dont panic, just be professional and do the treatments as youve been taught and you'll be fine :)

I'd say pretty much the same. I've interviewed countless girls over the years & not once have I asked anybody to bring anything in, it's all provided. I do employ my therapists though so perhaps if you're going for a self employed position it may be a bit different.

Why not ask if there's anything specific you need to take with you?

Good luck with it

Thanks for your replies
The owner of the salon emailed me the date of the trade test and told me to take bring my tools so I emailed her to confirm I would attend and could she clarify what tools I needed to bring and she replied saying

Please bring with you any necessary tools you may need to carry out your beauty therapies

so I am still confused and dont want to look stupid.
It is not a self employed job, I would be employed by the salon if successful

Hmm, that's a new one on me. Sorry I can't be of further help. Good luck though x

I would definately take my own tweezers and cuticle nippers.Even now I use my own nippers as I dont like the ones in the salon.

As for anything else, you wont need to take facial sponges or gloves as these should be already in the salon and wont make much difference to your treatment.

The usual type of trade test treatments are waxing,a paint job, sometimes a french and some massage to check your pressure.

Good luck:hug:HTH xx

Thanks to everyone who replied, none of my friends from college have been asked to take anything on trade tests - just my luck
I will take my tweezers and nippers and see what happens

How strange?!? Will she be expecting you to provide the tools/equipment etc if you get the job?
As mentioned before trade tests are usually massage, french or colour polish and waxing so take the necessary for these treatments. Good luck with it!! xXx

I always trade test therapists and have never asked them to bring any equipment. Unless a therapist has a favourite pair of tweezers, I expect to provide all salon equipment that the therapists use. I cant really think of what she means.

i too cannot hink what she would expect you to take? i do use my own nippers though as i know them inside out and find some others stronger or weaker!!

let us know how you got on and what she had you doing? i'm baffeled now as to why she would ask you to take your own exquipment!!

good luck

xx

hi

just wondering if you've had the test and how it went?

what tools did you take?

I had the test on Friday and took loads of stuff with me (just incase :green:)

When I arrived she asked me to take out my metal tools so I took out my cuticle knife, cuticle nippers and tweezers but I only used the tweezers and the cuticle knife

I was asked to do a back massage, foot massage, eyebrow shape, underarm wax, file different shapes on her nails and paint one nail in a dark colour whilst she asked me loads of questions as I worked.

I got a some things wrong :smack: but put it down to nerves, I havent heard anything but I am still praying that I get the job.

Thanks for all your replies, I am pleased to say that I got the job :green:

It appears that everyone uses their own tweezers, nippers etc at work so I have to use my own when doing clients
