I'e applied to college to do Beauty Therapy but not overly sure if I'll get my bursary through as I studied before 7 years ago, so I'm preparing myself for the worst!!! Once I was finished I was going to do a nail course because I have a huge passion for them. Anywaaaaaaaay, if I dont get my bursary I wont be going to college till next year, so wanna start a nail course. I have contacted Fiona for dates, prices etc. But what do emplyers look for? Do they have a preferred application i.e nsi, cnd etc? I can either go with Fiona and do CND or an NSI course and I'm stuck :green: any advice would be fab xx

either of those are well known education providers that would be recognised in a salon environment. whoever you go with you will need too show your skill in a trade test at an interview so that the employer can judge your skill level accurately. good luck and enjoy your course.

Thanks for that! I think I will probably go with Fiona as her rep is amazing :)

I was also wondering if I didnt get in I wanted to do courses in tanning, waxing, massaging, pedi/mani's. I looked at doing courses with sally's would these be acceptable in a salon enviroment i.e could I get employed in a salon with these certificates or would I have to go elsewhere, if so where could I go?? Any help/advice would be fab!! x

I would get company training with the products you want to use ... company training with those who know the products is always best!! IMHO

Don't go to sally's for any courses hun,
everything is taught with low end products and the training is very basic,
any private courses that you do take make sure they are fully accredited,
and double check that your insurance provider recognises the qualification that you would gain,
you can go onto the guild of beauty therapists and they have lists of accredited training courses all over the country,

i will be up in Scotland soon doing berins waxing classes and flirties lash extensions if that is of any interest to you,
PM me if you want any info,

you cant go wrong training with Fiona for nails, herself and all the girls there are great

Thanks!!!!!!! I was looking at the brochure and it seemed they taught with low end products, but the woman I spoke to wasn't help as she didnt know too much about the courses, so I'm really glad I asked lol!!! I'm just looking at options just incase I dont get the bursary!!

You will probably be at least entitled to ILA..this is like a £200 card for some courses...usually college ones...and would help towards paying for something part time...like mani or pedi courses...which some colleges run at night....not all courses are covered by ILA though

If I dont get the bursary my other option is to do the CND training - just so I can do something to get me going and save up for the college course I think it will be at least over a grand so I will have to save my pennies - but I'm determined either way :green:
