I would say ... don't expect too much too soon.

Skills have to be learnt and that takes time.

Learn each step and do each step until you are perfect at it .. you can't afford to not be as perfect as you can be at each and every stage.

Go with an open positive mind and enjoy yourself.

I'm training with Guild -

thanks for the advice geeg. Ill try to be open minded and practice lots .x

i agree with Geeg! There is always so much more to learn even after you think youv learnt everything.
Its like learning to drive...u only get good at it after youv passed your test!!
Dont think you'l be the best you can be after training - it takes time and patience and practise!!!! Take your time and dont be stressed if things dont go right straight away - it will eventually!!!

Good luck!! xx

Practice practice and then practice some more. Play about with techniques til you find something that suits you, then practice some more after that.

Could I offer a different type of advice? Go and get some simple business and marketing books and read them.

Becoming a nail tech means you are starting a business, and it's important if you want to succeed that you have a basic grounding in marketing, accounts, selling, customer service and business law - as a business owner there are laws you must follow and understand. This is not as complicated as it might sound - there is a lot of free info from business centers too - they even offer free advice. from experienced (often retired) business people.

In an ideal world, nail techs would be taught this in their courses! When I become prime minister I will fix that!!

It's not enough to make great nails - you also have to be a business professional to make money and succeed.

Good luck and enjoy the training!

it all takes practice. Take it slowly and dont expect too much too soon! Think of it like riding a bike(so to speak) you wernt perfect first time noone was but you practiced and eventually you will get there! Goodluck and enjoy!
