After reading that so many people think that at home learning is not the best way forward into a career in nails I was wondering if you could help me find a training course in Scotland? The only one I've found so far was over £700!! To me that is a tad on the expensive side when all others I've seen in England are around the £500-£600 mark. Has anyone trained in Scotland or know of any companies that work here? Any web links/info would be appreciated :o

Thank you!!

ctacademy.co.uk - I did some training through them and it was excellend, they are based in Glasgow. (Price varies on what options you choose starts about £450 - £500)

or

There is also the NSI Centre in Paisley (about £550 in one field ie powder or gel)

or

The Ayr Nail Academy (£550)

These are just the ones near me in Ayrshire / Glasgow

Hope this helps

Hi

I done my training with Creative they have now moved from Glasgow to Cumbernauld. Here is there number 01236 725800.

If you give them a call they will be more than happy to give you details.

My Creative Foundation course in Liquid and Powder was just under £600 (which INCLUDES the CND Professional Kit of products) I think well worth the money. Good luck hope you get the right training for you. I can say I did.

I just had a look online and they have an intensive course for manicure, acrylic, gel, nail art and a practical workshop for £600+VAT which seems good!

After your training did they tell you what products to buy, where and offer you discounts, etc? I really am quite clueless about all of this so apologies if I sound ignorant or like a complete fool. :o I'm just desperate for a career change!! The sooner I get enrolled and do a course the sooner i can put my plan to action

Sorry doll it was indian head massage i did with them not my nails, i just knew that they did the nails. I think the intensive course is £705 inc vat and doesn't include your products though so keep this in mind.

Also....

I would be wary of this course as it took me a full weeks training on each of the different types of enhancement and i still felt i needed more so i don't know how you would pick everything up in a week.

But if your a quick learner and fairly confident it could be worth a shot

Ahh poo!! I live about 2 hours away from Glasgow so it wouldn't be practical for me have to keep going back for the classes/extra tuition. At the moment I only want to subsidise my income so I'm wondering wether I should do an online, at home course for the time being and do family and friends then if I ever decide to go full out and make it my sole income then do one of these courses? Decisions Decisions!!

Without wishing to sound harsh, take a look at the gallery on here and then tell me that you think you can learn nails in a day...... There is a lot to it and it is a skill that is not easy to master..... If you want to learn you ahve to be prepared to put the time and effort in - and to travel. My Foundation course was over an hour each way and I was still working full-time at the time with 2 young kids......

I trained with Creative and at the end of my Foundation course there were some really dark moments when I thought I can't do this! Only the fact that I knew my training was good (and that I had passed) and finding inspiration from this site kept me going.......

I appreciate you're in a tricky position at the moment, but if you go into this half-heartedly you wont succeed. It takes passion, committment, blood, sweat and tears to be a decent Nail Tech.

I hope I haven't offended you, but I wanted to tell it like it really is...... Anyone who tells you it's easy to learn is lying! Anyone who tells you 1 day is enough for basic training is lying!

There is another Creative training academy in Edinburgh. It is called the Fingertips Centre and the telephone number is 0131 333 3180. I do not know if this is any closer to you but it may be. Remember, The CND course price does include the Professional Kit of CND products valued at over 150.00 ... you need to watch for that in the other prices you have been quoted. Some courses are more 'value added' than others.

Hi Honey

If You go to the links in the drop down bar and go into education there are a few places here in Scotland.

Young Nails, CND, Ezflow, NSI all very good training. Some can offer one to one training or training that is a bit closer to your home.

Hope this helps

PM me your address and I will be happy to send you one of our training folios in the morning.
Our new East Coast Creative Training Academy is only 20-30 minutes from you, just off the Newbridge roundabout near the Airport.

Thank you for your honesty and I completely understand what you're saying. I would never expect to learn anything in 1 day, maybe the basics but nowhere near enough to feel confident to actually put it into practise straight away. A few lovely ladies on here have PM'd me some very useful information, for which I am very greatful! Thay have found places much nearer to home. It's not that I'm not dedicated to learning, it's that being the size of a house and feeling blooming awful doesn't really inspire me to travel 5 hours every day, the joys of pregnancy :)
