OK please dont hate me for being "one of those people" but i did a day training course in June with The Carlton Institute in manicure and pedicure.

Im always doing further research and soaking up all the advise i can get from the nail geek - i am a student and although if im going to come into this industry i should invest the money to do it properly and it not be a hobby etc etc... truth is i have a real passion for it and my lack of funds and my longing to train just clashed... but believe me i did not shut up for all the questions i was constantly firing at the poor trainer

Hence why i believe spending my money doing a day course in mani, pedi is better than a day enhancement course (which i wouldn't feel happy about or adequate with) as i can do my homework regularly, work safely with the knowledge i have and i have a cliental of brides regularly

... anyway rant over.

Basically im happy with the foundation i have and i want to do a waxing course next followed by lash and brow enhancements before doing any enhancement training. why? because i want to focus on doing the basics PERFECTLY before taking on any more to do with nails and i really want to offer more beauty treatments ALSO i want to do enhancement training with CND, mainly due to you geeks recommendations and advice

This wont be happening for another year when im out of uni, have the funds to train and can put all my focus and energy into doing it right....

... My question is for my situation, am i going about this sensibly?
Believe me i do NOT consider myself a nail tech or professional and am looking into any short courses i can do over the next year to brush up my skills

Also can i train with CND if i havent done my basic training there and which system would you recommend i work with?

Thanks for any advice given and can i remind you i am ALWAYS doing my research and take what i do very very seriously and havent come into this industry lightly - and i am sensible in the way of carrying insurance etc etc

thanks geeks!

I'm not sure why you would think this is a problem? Lots of people do a 1 day man/ped course.

I think to answer your question - yes you are going about it sensibly IF it's what you want to do and it works for you. If you want to learn the beauty treatments then that's great, but if you really want to be a nail tech then I would put the money towards nail training.

Just my thought on your situation. Good luck anyway, whichever way you go.

I would recommend you concentrate on nails if this is what you want to do rather than dilute it with beauty treatments. Add these on if you want to after you've mastered one very big area.

As for the courses, talk to the companies you are considering. They will tell you all you want to know

Good luck

thank you thats really helpful.

i think im still going to do my waxing course next as i have lots of people asking me for it and my mum (bless her) has given me the money to do it.

im glad that its acceptable to do a one day course though i thought id be an outcast lol.

ive looked on sweet squared and think ill be doing the course asap and they have a training centre near me yay!

although how do i go about finding a model that needs a rebalance etc?? if i struggle will they help provide someone?
