Am considering doing a nail enhancement course in the new year. I trained with gels about 5 yrs ago but they didn't go down well in the salon, people wanted acrylics. I've never been a fan of them as have seen damage caused to the natural nail quite a lot. However we are being asked for them more and more. If I'm going to do a nail course I want to be completely confident in the service I am offering and that I will do them correctly. I'm looking for recommendations for nail course's please and any hints and tips you can give me that will help me to decide the right course to take. Is it better doing a course spread over a few days or an intense 2 day course? The gel course I did before was only one day and there were quite a few of us there and I'm nit sure I came away with complete confidence.

No, i wouldn't recommend a 1 day course from my own experience!

I'm not sure what there is near u but ezflow are a great company nationally recognized and have a large range of products i can't say how much training is with them ina thread but type in george smedley into google it will bring her site up with training..look for the 4 day acrylic beginners course.

Acrylic only does the same amount of damage to the nail as gel does..which is non if it's applied and removed properly..

Many thanks! Are Ezflow's products low odour? Because of my working environment I can only work with low odour products.

Gel is also acrylic.....

Type in Low Odour in the search engine on here for related threads.....

No product just sat there on top of your nail will damage it, nail techs that over file and clients that pull nail enhancements off cause the damage.

Thanks for the link, looks good! Shame the acrylic course is only a day though, not sure that would be good for me

hi there

just wondering if your doing a short intensive course! would you feel more confident on a 2-3 day course? when training

would like to hear your feed back

thanks

I've never been a fan of one day courses for areas that need attention to detail and good technical ability. I did a one day gel course about 5 years ago and it wasn't enough for me. I wasn't confident in my knowledge/skill I don't think. I sent a therapist that worked for me on a 5 day course spread over a couple of months but the cost was pretty high. I know you get what you pay for but....

but......what. Think long term, cutting corners and short cuts will not be cheaper in the long term. Some courses seem to good to be true, and usually are. Just research lots and lots you would be surprised in the price dif, with leading companys, versus the other small type companys, it is really not that much when looking at what you get for your money.....jmo xxxxxx

You will probably notice NSI sell odourless acrylic system...don't go there, lol.

It isn't odourless at all, who ever brought it out as odourless clearly there nose doesn't work!

Creative's personally...i think anyone who is going to pay £xxx for a 1 day creative course is an absolute nutter!

I'm paying nearly a £xxx less for my ezflow course which is 3 days or i could go directly to georgie smedley and do 4 days again for nearly a £xxx less..

I think you need to change the length of your course or lower the price.. i almost went to a local private academy like yours and paid £xxx for a 2 day course..

I would much rather pay a little more and get 5 days training (over a number of months) a kit and unbeatable follow up and support with a leading company such as the 'real' Creative.....as in Creative Nail Design, through one of their recognised academies!!!
www.sweetsquared.com

Or if money is an issue (as it is for me at the moment) look for a recognised college course such as an NVQ or VTCT.

got some great nails courses

best of luck :green:

Just had a little look at the 'acrylic' course.......I have a couple of questions.....
What do you mean by theatrical?
Who is the course accredited with?
How can there be 100% pass rate......does this mean anyone can come along (with their 469 pounds of course!) do a horrendous set of nails and be guaranteed to pass?
On a 1 day course what opportunity does a student have to do a rebalance?

Thanks, Lou x

hi there

thanks for the feedback, i am thinking of making nails courses longer

off to work

have a great day:)

Hi

Without hesitation, go to Creative Nail Design and do their foundation course. I did a 3 day course with someone else - learnt zilch, lots of practice at doing zilch, finally did a conversion with CND and learnt far more than I ever learnt at previous company!

After that, practice, practice and more practice, followed by as many 1-2-1's or extra days training as you can afford. All of this will help you master liquid and powder (acrylic).

Good luck with your training - remember to enjoy it!

Thanks Jules, they are at the top of my list so far, just wish they werent so expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for!

On a different note, can I ask you about Flirties? They seem to be popular on this site, but I havent heard of them.

I'm going to do another course next month because I had Acrylic Nail Extensions one day course and found out that it was incredible nonsense. They won't teach you infilled or rebalance or anything at all... :irked: Are they part of nail extension service???

I'm not into any product line but as I did some research, asked so many GURU and tried them myself. I can say that it's ll about you and your studiousness.

I'd like to say that I can do the nail extension though it's not that perfect but what I learned from that day is how to groom my doggie's nail. :green: Just imagine the way you put those claw (tips) on finger's nails and have them cut by tip cutter... OMG it's similar, isn't it?

I didn't mean to blame anyone but you can imagine what on earth can make you a nail technician within one day.

I'm gonna go for the Signature 5 Foundation Course because at least there's some time to breathe in, practice and feel like you are trained not just listen to the same old song. which you can download it in youtube...

Yeah I received the details of that course this afternoon, I'm sure its thy one I'll do, just not liking the cost!

It might sound a lot but you get a starter kit with it and, if you compare what you're getting with lesser brands and some of the private establishments, it's actually very good value for money. Why pay twice, when you don't have to, because chances are that you'll live to regret it and wish you'd done it in the first place. :)

Before recommending courses that you actually run you really should read the Commandments of a Geek, I specifically refer you to #6:

Advertising is allowed on the site via banners and auto-linking but not through posting. Threads, posts, pms, blogs or Social Group Posts designed to bait and hook or advertise a service or product for your financial gain is a sure fire way to get your post deleted and possibly get banned.
Firstly, you are breaking the rules of the site :irked:. Secondly, it might be better if the course you offer actually was of benefit to the industry . A 1 day course with a 100% pass rate, seriously...... Anyone who actaully parts with money for that (especially the amount you are asking) doesn't deserve to be a Nail Tech. You need to take a long look in the mirror and examine your consience.

I would also like to point out that Creative's  has no association or affiliation with Creative Nail Design (CND) and does not represent the CND brand in any way despite what in my opinion amounts to 'passing off' and using a name that is misleading.

Contact 08452106060 or Welcome - Sweet Squared if you are interested in genuine Creative training by the CND licensed distributor in the UK.

I think that the fact that there seems to me to be a genuine attempt to mislead you, by pretending an association that they do not have with the world leader in nail enhancement technology, should tell you something about the training that you may be getting. Beware.
