Hello.

I am hoping to complete my treatment menu but I would like some feedback on it first.

I understand that the prices of treatments depend on location and the products used, but any feedback would be helpful. For most of my treatments I will be using SkinTruth products. In your option, should I be charging more or less in general, and when it comes to, for example, Hand Therapy Manicure, Nail Therapy Manicure and Ultimate Manicure treatments, are the price differences reasonable?

But most important would you be happy to pay for what is included in my treatments?

Hi,
I do think your waxing and full body massages are a bit too cheap, but I suppose it depends on your area and what people are willing to pay x

I forgot to say that the prices are for mobile treatments. Do you think mobile treatments should be cheaper than salon treatments because the therapist doesn't have the salon overheads, or do you think that they should be more expensive because you are going to the client?

I think the prices you charge should reflect your skill and being mobile you should still account for overheads, petrol, parking, insurance and so on.. you prob would have to have extra cover to enahnce your protection against theft from your car i think..

as i am also going to be mobile these are the sort of factors i am also taking into consideration.

I dont think you should sell yourself short just because you are going to a clients home you are still prviding a professional service and also your time... but stay in the price ranges of salon nearby

thats the sort of advice i have been given from both the lovely seasoned therapists from here and also my training courses..

I would say don't undersell yourself. The way I did my prices was too look at salons and other mobile therapists in the area.

My USP is 'luxurious, yet affordable', so although I know for a fact I'm a great massage therapist (yes I am blowing my own trumpet lol) and could probably charge more if I was in a more affluent area, my philosophy is that I want everyone to be able to afford it.

I'll give you an example, I did a summer fayre recently and a lady had on site massage with another therapist. She called me a few days later wanting to book a massage. At the end of her treatment I asked her why she had called me and not the therapist she originally had the treatment with. She said 'you were cheaper, and that was a great massage and I've had a few!' So now she has booked 5 monthly treatments in advance and booked her husband in for when they get back off holiday.

I think my prices are right for the areas I cover. Its really really difficult to raise your prices more that nominally once you have regular clients. So shop around, if you try to undercut your competition at the start, if they cut their prices where do you go???

Value your profession and your time, its just as important as your clients time. hth :green:

Hi,

Your waxing prices are a bit cheap I think - just a question but will you really drive to someone's house and set up all that equipment just for a £5 brow wax?

I am thinking about the same sorts of things as I'm hoping to go mobile too in the next 6 months or so. Don't think mobile should mean cheaper as you have to factor in the extra time that's needed for each client in their own home. Also some appointments may be unsociable hours so when I set up my pricing I won't be going for the cheaper end. Have you thought about packages? I am thinking that this is a good way of encouraging clients to have multiple treatments and therefore you can get more out of your time in each house.

Where in Scotland are you? Is it a big city or somewhere smaller? I know what I pay for my treatments (i have a girl who comes to my house to do my waxing) and I go for a massage to someone's salon once a month. Your prices are definitely cheaper than I currently pay.

some of your prices are a bit cheap. You could put them up a bit, then do special offers. It's hard to put the prices up later, but if its an offer they're getting, they know it usually costs more. If theyre happy with your service they'll pay full price. Salons have more overheads but can usually do more clients in the hours. Time is money. Travelling around takes up alot of time. I'd imagine you'll be doing hours that include when salons are closed

Thank you everyone for your replies as it has given me more to take into consideration!

I am based in a town in the Scottish Borders.

Packages is something that I would like to introduce, like you say, it encourages client to have multiple treatments.

My problem is that I have been looking at the prices of treatments offered in salons in the town and I have been making my prices the lowest. Now I realise that this shouldn't be the case, because it is more time consuming for me than it would be if I was in a salon and everything was organised already, I do have overheads, and also that I will be working days and hours when salons aren't open. Because I am the only mobile beauty therapist in the area, I have no one else to compare my prices too.
