Just wondering if anyone could give me some advice, i've have an enquiry from a 15 year old about facial waxing. I've only just set up and 'im a bit unsure about treatments for under 16s do you ask for a parent to come with them and sign or do you not offer waxing for people under 16?

Hope that makes sense!
Thanks in advance for any replies

I would definatly want the parent to come with. Some mums are really ok about this sort of thing and others can hit the roof.
I used to see it with body piercings, every Saturday they'd be in with the fake I.D. and every Monday irate mum's would be in screaming about how we has assulted their children.
Then we'd show them the consent form with the photo copy of the I.D. and they'd go of steaming about having little liers for kids.
So yep I'd say mum in attendance or wont do it. Also check with your insurance company that they cover you to treat under 16's.

The best thing to do is contact your insurance company, as they will probably have guidelines in place for treating minors.

yeh i would get the parent to come with them and sign a consent form just to cover yourself.

Thanks for all your replies, i have contacted my insurance company and they have advised me not to

That makes it nice and simple then, you can tell her your insurance wont cover you, but you'll be delighted to see her on her next birthday.

I have a number of under 16, I always ask the partent to come in with the under 16, I make them sign to say there are under 16 and the parents signature.

I find that parents do come with them to make sure evrything is ok, Kids are starting so young now and so many get bullied for stupid things.

I would get the girl in with her mother to talk about her facial hair concerns as it may be that she needs to have her hormones checked by the doctor or to be offered advise on treating the hair e.g bleaching or to be directed to a GP to be referred to have electrolysis/lazer on the NHS. On the other hand it may be she has a unfounded concern about natural downy hair growth and needs to be told she is normal.

. . . delighted to see her on her next birthday.

- and put a note in your diary for next year! "Happy Birthday and would you like a discounted waxing?"

You never know - she could tell all her friends! Marketing Gold!

Glad you're sorted for now!
