After my leaflet drop i have had several phone calls in a couple of days and this morning got a phone call from a nurse at a small local hospital asking if i could go and do treatments there. I have said yes i think it would be really nice for the people in the hospital. Espcially as my mum was in and out of hospital for the last 6 months of her life and knew that she would of loved this. Do may of you go to hospitals to provide treatments? The lady they think would be interested in it has parkinsons and is on no medication so there is no contraindications regarding medicine. If you have done this before are there any treatments you wouldnt suggest? Or any that you have found popular? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I haven't done treatments in hospitals myself but my advice would be to keep it simple in the beginning: manicure, pedicure, haircuts and maybe a massage.

Check with the staff in advance if you have any concerns.

See how it goes and then offer more treatments as you go. Best of luck with it. I think it's a lovely idea.

Do you not need any special vetting to work in hospitals? I really love the idea of being able to help poorly clients in hospital or in hospices etc. but was told this required specialist vetting. This was when I was doing reflexology which does have contraindications so maybe it is ok for things like manicures and pedicures etc?

Im really not sure actually i never thought. A lady who works at the hospital just rang me after getting a flyer through her door and said she has had a patient who has had people go in before for little treatments like manis and pedis, and would i do a hospital visit for her. I said yes as i thought it would be nice as i have just started going to a clients house who is very ill and she loves it it makes me feel so good for doing it aswel. xx

i think its a really good idea, my hairdresser goes to a nursing home once a week and does a hanful of clients she says she loves it, the clients love it and she really has a laugh.
go for it!!! :)

I got a call to go and restyle a woman's hair in the hospital physiatric ward, as she had cut her own hair off. I was extremly nervous, especially the ward it was in, incase someone tried to get my scissors and cut themselves etc, but it was ok, she was lovely and just so thankful someone went to help her look and feel better.
It really was the most rewarding haircut I've ever done x

I do a similar thing too, I got a contract with a local bupa retirement/nursing home doing luxury manis and pedis on the residents. They love it. I Did have to show a Criminal Bureau record, but I always get mine refreshed from when I used to do nursing. I love chatting to the elderly, their fascinating, and they love some one spending some time with them, even just having some one to talk to makes a huge difference in their life. Very rewarding :D
