I had a client last night who had a set of acrylics at a NNS who used a drill and subsequently she suffered "rings of fire" After that visit she returned to a local reputable salon and had them infilled twice and has been happy but has difficulties getting appointments there so came to me.

I explained poss colour differeance, service breakdown etc before appointment and she was happy.

When she arrived she had 2 missing nails (no damage) and two broken and one that had gone down the the nail bed just under the free edge. It must have been broken and then infilled over as it wasnt very visable until i filed down. When i removed the broken ones with acetone it hurt obviously so i gently buffed, took the length right down and cleaned with scrubfresh then overlayed. I said when she comes back for next infills if the break has grown out over the free edge i will remove the nail and re-do it.

Anything else i needed to do or should have done?

Sounds like you did a good thorough job .. my question is, why do you feel you need to remove and replace the the overlay on the broken nail when she returns to the salon? I would leave it alone and maintain it as with all the others.

I was just concerned about possible weakness but if you reckon there is no need then i will rebalance as normal!

It was my most challenging client so far but i thoroughly enjoyed it and im confident when she left she was very happy too, well she rebooked there and then so she must be!

I think your L&P should be quite strong enough to hold the breakage in place until such time as it is grown out and removed when shortening during maintenance.
