It all depends on use/skintone and texture/budget etc but my favourite brands atm are MAC (obv!) Chanel, Benefit & Urban decay. For cheaper ranges I adore GOSH, BarryM & No7 for colour.

I'm totally into minerals and have Jane Iredale, Bare Minerals and Pure Anada in my kit. These are all great brands and my brides love them.
