I have been contemplating trying twinkle toes(young nails) or hollywood toes(nsi) and not sure????????????
I trained in acrylic and by my own admission am not that good at sculpted as I always avoided doing them but never had any complaints aboout my tips! Anyway...... cut to the chase, how difficult is gel. Has anyone tried both systems?
I am reluctant to buy the stuff only to find I cant get to grips with it as it is not cheap!
I am leaning more to nsi as the brush on french seems easier?? But there is a young nails near by.

Any advice would be great
Thanks
Samantha

Got to admit i havnt tried twinkle toes yet, But i do Hollywood Toes, and ive done about 5 sets since i got my lamp a week and a half ago lol x Worth the investment in my opinion x Plus it looks lovely...really 'clean' if you get me lol xxx
Gel, to me, is more forgiving than acrylic, you have more time to get it right. I find it easy enough to do XXX
HTH XXX

I am trained in both, but I personaly find L&P easier to work with, but this is just apersonal thing, and I havn't worked with gel as much. Twinkle toes is however really easy to do, I use YN mani-Q and then whatever glitter the client likes. You would probably be better checking with your insurer to see if you would be insured to do twinkle toes without any training in gel though, it isnt a big layout to buy the products needed for the twinkle toes, and if your insurer was happy for you to carry this out it would give you an aidea of working with gel, hth x

Thanks for that!
I never thought about my insurance and it being covered. I just assumed it would be okay!
Sadly I cant afford a course at present and with a 6 week old baby I am working from home at the moment so have not got the time as I am still breastfeeding. I'm saving up to do a course in waxing and hopefully young nails maybe doing one soon.
I have a seperate area and clients come in the evening so kids are not about, which is rare as there are 4 of them lol

You should look through the threads on here for shellac. I have noticed that some people are using shellac for twinkle toes and that means no filing as well.:D HTH! There is also a thread on you tube for this procedure as well.

What is shellac??? I keep seeing it mentioned, I thought it was just a nail varnish:o

Could I use gel from nsi, then cure, then apply glitter or apply gel then glitter and then cure or use a base coat then apply glitter and then glaze and go or could I apply glaze and go then glitter and then cure then another layer???

Sorry if it sounds stupid

Shellac??? JUST a nail varnish???? I don't think so .................

Also have a look at the Shellac Lovers Group where you can see tonnes of pictures of geeks work and read tonnes more users comments and questions.

Simplest prtoduct to work with. Best lamp n the business. No filing of the natural nail surface to apply and no filing to remove. You can do any kind of look you want with it simply and very quicky (important).

Shellac goes on from a bottle like polish .. wears tough like a gel .. but wraps off in just 10 minutes. You should consider it.

Just to get this right Twinkle toes, Hollywood toes and Rockstar Toes are essentially the same thing just one is done with L&P and one is done with gel/Shellac, right? All of them just have glitter embedded?

yea, I know rockstar and twinkle toes as gel with glitter embeded, hollwood toes to myself are french look toes using gel, hth x

I personally have been using Shellac to do Rock Star Toes - there is a picture on my profile if your interested?

I have used Gel and L&P in the past and have to say i have found nothing easier than Shellac.

Its by far the best and the quickest to do and remove without having to buff off.

xxxxx

iam jus about to buy sum shellac to do twinkle toes but was wondering how easy it comes off with the remover? does the glitter make it harder to take off?

People say not. They say it is very easy to remove.

Hi I've just discovered twinkle toes I had hem done at a salon two week ago too see how it was done. I had a ocean blue OMG it was amazin! however wasgutted that thebig toe feel off on the 3rd day of my holidays arrrr, however I did bang them n the pool. Anyway can Ifind this blue anywhere no I cant, it's driving me mad! got a royal blue and a turquose but none of them match. I really love this colour it seems to be the ones they show on the adverts for twinkle toes in salons, does anyone know where I can get it from te glitter tha is??? Anyway I've manged to get loads of other colours and they do look good but I not as sparkly as this blue? the salon used a whitle gel 1st then glitter then clear builder and finish. I've been using clear gel 1st, has anyone tried white gel, the salon girl said i sparkles more??
Also I cannot find a bright pink, they seem to be a but light, I'm after a bling bubble gum pink?

Have you tried young nails. I have the pinkie which is hot pink on my toes at the minute and it's fab. The glitters are under the sub section nail art and come in sets, las Vegas which is neon and I can't remember the others lol they are great though and really shimmery :-D hth

Rockstar toes with Shellac soak off in 10 minutes, it just comes off in bigger chunks instead of flakes :)
