Just hired a place in a hair salon, this is the first salon I am working at. As I set up my own table chairs etc, and went in to the salon I've seen there's a massive amount of hair on my table, when I had my first client she noticed it too and it was very unconfortable for both of us. I'm paying 40 pounds a week but the place is on first floor, so I'm scared that even though they'll be satisfied with my job the won't come back because of the salon. I thought about putting a room divider there, but there's not much room in there. The owner dont seeem to co-operative, but I will need to speak to her about it since I dont want to risk my business, do you think I'd better find a different place?

Also I'll be doing a course on start up your own business, and I thought when I finish it I could just hire a small shop with 2-3 technician friends where I could design my place as I want and especially keep it CLEAN. And until I'm trying here, but I feel very stressed when I'm in the salon

What would youd do in my position?

Hair ON your table?how come? is it too near the hairdressing area?

yeahm thats my problem they dont give enough room but I told them when i gave the deposit that I will need room and I even sent a 3D plan to see how much room I'll need. Now she shrinked my table to a small corner basicly next to the stylist station. my table's white and all the hair falls there clearly visible.

I would look for another place. If there isn´t enough room to start with she won´t be able to do too much for you. It´s important that you create a pleasent invironment for your customers. I´m not only thinking about the hair on your desk but the sound of the hairdryers must be everything besides relaxing for your customer. just my opinion

Yes, move. The situation is unlikely to get better with time - you've just moved in and already it's not what you expected. They seem to have little empathy for you and what you want is a professional salon when the other workers are keen to see you succeed, it's a pleasant environment and it has a good working atmosphere. Not a salon that is just renting space.

Good for you to take a business course!

I agree with Mieke and Bob ... Move (the sooner the better) ... it must be intolerable working like that, the noise all the hot air and hair!! ugh. No one can work like that and the whole ambiance sounds horrendous.

Definately not a relaxing experience for your clients xx
