Hello, I don’t know if anyone could help me out here. I tried a new hair salon this week, and I have naturally mousy brown coloured hair. I had a few blonde bits from a previous balayage. I told the hairdresser I wanted half head highlights just to brighten up my dull roots and I asked for caramel/honey tones. He said he couldn’t do that because of my natural colour?? Not sure why as I’ve had it before.

I washed it today and realised how dull it looks, it looks like I haven’t had anything done which is annoying as it cost over £100 for this. All the blonde/light bits are completely gone too that I had previously. He used a toner and I don’t know if this is why it looks so dull and boring and I really can’t see any colour now. I had it done by someone who is a colour specialist and has won awards for his work so I’m a bit confused.

Post some pictures so we can see and offer an opinion.
What did he actually do?
Did he do a half head of bleach foil highlights, as you asked?

It’s very dark on top and not what I asked for, looks very bland in person without flash etc

Do you mind if you post a picture with the colour you wanted to have? Most of the times when someone has your level of natural colour and wants golden/ caramel/ honey highlights I would use a low peroxide with the bleach so it will not lift to a level 9-10 (light blonde) as it will remove most of the pigments I want to keep for the caramel tone. I would also use a toner. So maybe he just lifted your hair too much?

I also think he did a very natural look with just a few baby lights that got lost on the ends where the hair gets thinner. I am sure that you could go back and say you are not very happy with the result and see if they can re do it for you.
