Hi everyone :)

I'm very new to SP EE and have done 10 sets since my training. I'm finally getting the hang of it and a full set is taking me 2-2.5 hours.

They look good from my angle neat(ish) and full, but when my clients open their eyes they look untidy and not as filled out :(

Is this normal when you first start? How do you correct it/what am I doing wrong? I'll pop a few pics on...

Lets see pics :) normally I think mine don't look as good with eyes closed then when pads come off they look great :)

Here are a few of the sets that I've done using 0.15, 0.20 and 0.25 (between 7mm and 13mm) C curl.

The last 2 pics were done on the same day - I think I was on a roll then LOL. The pictures are in date order so from 2nd set to yesterday's set.

The sets are lasting and I've done 4 infills - around two thirds of the lashes left after 2-3 weeks. I'd really appreciate any tips for neatness... And constructive criticism!!

hi i dont do sp lashes but they look lovely to me i would be happy with them x

I think they look great, I'd be very happy with them! X

You're both very sweet but I know I'm not up to scratch yet, I'm a bit of a perfectionist and would love to specialise in lashes as well as nails :) it's going to take some time and practise!

Honestly, these do look great for someone just starting out.
The key to full lashes is to set your frame with the lengths you want and then fill in with shorter lashes. I would stick to 3 different sizes per set, 4 max, as the greater the variety of sizes, the harder it is to get them looking full.
Also, in time, you will naturally speed up, which will in turn, increase the amount of lashes you apply - thus creating fuller sets.

Thank you Hun, I have been using 2-3 lengths per set (short inner corner, medium middle, medium/longer outer corner) otherwise ill just confuse myself!

When you say fill in with shorter lashes, if I was using 9mm, 10mm and 11mm, what length should I use to fill in?

I'm stopping at around the 2hr15 mark for every set so I can see how my speed is picking up by how many lashes have been applied, I'm sure in time I will improve. I've been placing the lashes evenly apart so if they're not quite as full as I'd like they are still nice and even.

The thing I'm most concerned about is how they look with the eyes open, sometimes they look like they aren't straight along the lash line when looking face-on. Once they are teased into place they are ok - is that how everyone does it or should they automatically look good when you remove the pads and they open their eyes?

I would use 9mm all the way along to fill in this case (but with that combination, the length difference is hardly anything, so you should be fine. But if you were using 9,11,13, I would then fill with 9 or 10). With c-curl lashes, I personally feel that any shorter than a 9mm they look too curly and very unnatural and can touch the eyelid.

You will usually have to brush the lashes after removing the pads or tape just the re-align them, as clients blink /eyes water etc. If the lashes are leaning, this means you have applied a lash that is too heavy for the natural lash.

Steer clear of .25 as most clients lashes will not be strong enough to hold the weight.

Thank you :)

The lashes aren't leaning or drooping at all, more like they move slightly when the client first opens their eyes - when brushed through they sit nicely but I didn't know if that was normal to be brushing them or whether I was just doing a terrible job ;)

I've only used the 0.25 lashes on the last two clients who had thick healthy lashes themselves, I wouldn't dream of applying anything heavier or putting too thick lashes on clients as I've read it on here the damage it can cause! When I infill I will use 0.20 as it means I can give the fuller, thicker look without worrying about time.

My c curl lashes aren't as curly as some of the pics I see on here :/ they're more like a cross between C and J in comparison. Maybe I should look at using J curls in the inner corners in future or am I over complicating things?!

I cannot remember the last time I used j-curl, 99% of clients want some sort of curl, so for me its b-curl and c-curl.

You should be giving your clients a mascara spoolie to use as aftercare. They will be wonky when they wake from sleeping and if the client is a picker, they can use the brush instead and therefore not cause any damage.

I've been sending them away with a disposable mascara wand to use gently in the mornings and I also retail the Marvellash mascara if they feel they can't do without it - everyone has been really pleased, I think I'm just fussy and want to be an excellent lash tech NOW lol.

You've been a great help, thanks again :)

If I'm being really honest, I don't think there's much wrong at all! I've seen worser sets from lashers a lot more experienced.

Try use a little less glue, but I do think they look nice though. Xx

Thank you! Yes I agree with using less glue, I'm still finding I have to blot any excess off on the under eye pads. It's a bit like L&P mix ratio with nails I suppose, takes some getting used to!

The prob is see is that they look like the glue is setting wen the lash isn't pointing upright. To combat this, put the lash on, and 'pinch' the top of it with your straight tweezers to wiggle it straight. You have to be quick though, other than that they do look lovely well done x

Hey hun, your lashes look great! What lengths and thicknesses do you use? There's so many so it's difficult to know which to buy to start off with x

Thank you! I'll certainly give that a go when I do my next set. I find sometimes I have to hold the lash in place whilst it sets to stop it from dropping to one side, even with the 0.15 lashes so I know it's nothing to do with the weight of them! I get the lash on nicely, straight and married at the bottom well but it's when I have to hold it in place whilst the glue sets that things start to go pear shaped (I'm very shaky) - that's what takes me so long... So I may try a faster setting glue to see if it helps, but I worry it's too soon for someone so new to lashes. What are your thoughts?

If you feel ready to move on to a faster setting glue then do so. I wish I had started using a quicker glue sooner than I did.

Try using the faster setting glue on a friend first, that way - if it goes wrong it doesn't matter :) xx

I think I may give that a go then. I'm currently using LashBase No.1 Sensitive - should I try their No.1 Extreme? Has anyone used it and if so, how does it compare to the Sensitive?

Thanks everyone for your advice so far, you've definitely all been very helpful :)
