Hi guys need some urgent help!
Just had a clients husband on the phone saying my client is in hospital as she had an accident and scratched the surface of her eye. He has said they need/want to take lashes off now as she is in such pain and what should she do. I can't get to her to remove them safely so what should I suggest???
I'm unsure as to how the lashes are making anything worse though??

Her mum called me earlier too and said that she had been crying all night and rubbing her eyes so god knows what she's done but I don't know how to help her?

Thanks for any quick advice!

If I were you I'd organise a time to remove lashes with lash remover before she starts pulling at them herself and then maybe schedule a new appointment to apply new ones when she's better if she likes.

Yes I said that she could pop in to me I. Her way home but they don't know how long they will be at the hospital and she wants them off now as she's in a lot if pain from the abrasion on her eye. I spoke with her husband again and the lashes aren't irritating but she wants them off so she has nothing around her eye as she's in a lot of discomfort :(

Hiya, i wouldnt go near with remover if she scratched her eyes tbh. I may be wrong, but some removers are very strong. I once decanted some of my remover onto a plastic spatula and it "ate" through spatula and left a hole in it :-/ if there is any open flesh (if its the right way of putting it) it could cause some serious damage.:(

I wouldn't touch them either. If she came to you with any eye problems you wouldn't put lashes on her and I don't think you would be covered by insurance if you removed them whilst she has an injured eye.

You could check with your insurance company in the morning but I wouldn't touch them.:wink2:

Surely baby oil soaked or warm oil soaked on cotton wool pads and they should start lifting.

Definitely ask your insurers 9am tomorrow morning as you don't want l to put yourself in any horrible position but at the same time do what is best for the clients comfort.

If she has a tear to her cornea then she will be in a lot of pain. My dad had this & it was awful. I wouldn't put remover anywhere near there as in sure it will make the pain a whole lot worse.

if she's rubbing her eyes, then her extensions will defo aggravate the eye area further, however I would tend to agree with the previous posters - solvent near the eye if they are already aggravated seems just too risky, it could cause further irritation and you could then become involved in the problem. However this is just my thoughts on the subject, get some professional advice from your insurance company and also ring your lash brand company or trainer too so you're fully prepared when you call her back.

It may also be a good idea to advise that she speak to the eye doctor/specialist regarding the implications of her eye injury and the lashes extensions and removal using solvent. Rubbing your eye with an eye injury is a no no anyways - guaranteed to make it worse! Isn't that why they stick a big eye patch over it?!

I wouldn't advise her to remove with oil and warm water if they are SP individual lashes, clients are impatient and this method only breaks down the bond very gradually over time and they may end up bodging it, pulling extensions out, causing further discomfort, problems and then blaming you coz you recommended it!

Best of luck and let us know how you/she gets on? x

Exactly. I only left it there for about 15 - 20 mins. When i saw the results, i was shocked. It did worry me when i saw the results. However, i decided to do a test with a remover from a different brand and an hour and 20 mins later i saw no change in plastic . I still believe this stuff is lethal, and should be used with absolute caution!

Ive removed my own in a way that i shouldnt have a few times, wouldnt ever advise doing so to a client :)

But

I dont think she (the client) should try using any make up removers /oils/creams/lash removers. If there are open wounds she could easily get a nasty infection there. Plus i dont think shed be able to spend a while rubbing her eyes when they are in pain already.

It is just my opinion, but id rather send her to doctor than risk causing more damage by removing/giving advice. We are not doctors after all.

We could discuss here all night but as it was said in some other thread, op should talk to insurance/client directly and take it from there :)

What remover would you recommend?! I'm shocked it can eat plastic but is supposed to be used around the eyes!

Op, like already said don't touch her eyes whilst she's in this state! I imagine the doctors would advise against it as well if her eyes are that bad. I'm sure your insurance will tell you what you can do if anything. Your client may just have to resist the urge to pull them out and wait for them to fall out. GooD luck.

Well I managed to speak with her

directly finally and SHE says it's only a bother because of the eye patch. The lashes are not bothering her otherwise. She wants to leave it and see how it goes but I will call insurance 1st thing and see what they advise!
Thanks everyone!!!

If you are asking me re remover, i cant tell you, cause i barely ever use them.

Ive only tried two brands, when tried on myself, they can both sting like hell if they get into the eye.

Ive only removed about 4 sets so far (excuding my own lashes) and i always have plenty of eye wash and fresh water and cotton pads at hand just in case.

Im sure if any more experienced geeks will come along they will advise of the best /safest remover to use! :)

I suppose the remover is that strong because it has to dissolve the glue, which is permanent, really! Dont forget that the glue is also dangerous hence it is not supposed to come in contact with the skin and has fumes that may cause a reaction to a client :)

Could they be trimmed down a bit to make them more comfortable?

Funnily enough I thought this while I was brushing my teeth this morning lol. Not heard from her yet do will see how we go!

I totally read that wrong! Thought you said eyelid! Sorry. I wouldn't touch it if its the eye itself was scratched unless you have the go ahead from the doc. Should really have my glasses on for reading! Whoops! :)
