Hi guys, I really need your advice please.
Just received a picture followed by a call from my sister to say she has caught her nail in a basket while putting the kids toys away.

Any way she has cracked the acrylic and her natural nail underneath about 5mm form the cuticle. Apart from the fact that it is nipping like hell and bleeding she thinks her natural nail is coming away from the nail bed at the top to the cuticle, but the rest of the nail is still attached to the nail bed.

I have told her to put solar oil on it to stop the bleeding but dont know what else to tell her. This is why I need your help.

I have so many questions but my main one is what can I do to help her?
What do you think will happen to the rest of her nail? (which is still attached to the nail bed)

I dont know how to up load a picture to the thread but have put a picture in my albums to let you see what Im talking about.

PLEASE HELP
I feel so sorry for her :cry::cry:

many thanksxx

Ellison, I can't find your photo in your albums, without seeing the nail it is very difficult to make a judgement:irked:

In the past, when I have had someone with a severely damaged nail that 's just toooo painful to touch, I have used Gelbond to adhere the two seperated pieces of acrylic together. This acts like a plaster cast, it is only temporary, but will ease the pain considerably. Right now it doesn't matter what it looks like, so use as much as you need to, just get rid of the pain.

Hopefully gelbod will keep it together for 24-48 hours in order for any bleeding/swelling/pain to diminish and then hopefully you can work on it.

Just a little update.
My sister will come over in the morning and I will gelbond her nail together again. I've told her that this will only last for about 48 hours so I should apply a thin layer of acrylic to help protect it but she doesn't fancy me buffing anywhere near it. So we shall see what happens.

This is typical :irked: I have been waiting over a year to get my hand on her nails and this happens.
I thought I knew what to do but as this is my first emergency its always better to hear it from someone else.

I will let you know how I get on

once again many thanks:hug:

This happened to me after checking the car door to see if it was locked, my hand slipped and i ripped off my acrylic and natural nail 3/4 across one side up near the cuticle.

I went to the Doctors as i couldnt remove it, he put my finger to sleep and removed the nail.
I waited about a week and slowly nursed it back to its full length using acrylic.

A final update for you.
Didn't
see my sister until Sunday and her nail has now fell off from the free edge to the crack so now see a wee
tiny
stump of nail left so
I'm
away to look for the thread I seen about sculpting nail biters without using a form That I came across the other day.
Thank
goodness
it was her pinkie and not her thumb.

thanks again xx

OOOPS... don't know what I've done and don't know how to fix it...
