About as far South as you can get!
Why oh why, does it take me nearly two hours to do a full leg wax including bikini line??!!!

I did one last week it took 2 hours, I did one last night, it took an hour and 3/4's! I'm sure it's not supposed to take THAT long!!

I love waxing but I'm beginning to be really put off by my timings on this particular part of the body. Everything else is fine, it's just those damn legs!!!

Any hints or tips (or if next time I get one you could do it for me ;)) please feel free to share :green:

Thank you xx

Wow it should only take 30mins max for a full leg!

You should arrange training with Kim on her speed waxing class or get a hold of Lori Nestore's DVD and it'll show you how to scrape all the wax on and then remove it systematically to reduce timings dramatically!

Are you covering the leg in wax and then removing or are you doing one strip at a time?

I take about 30 - 40 mins depending on leg size... just make sure you are using a wax that doesnt set up too quickly then you can cover the whole leg like Lyndsey suggests and remove systamatically from the anckles up.

Have the client lay comfortable on the couch and turn one leg out so that their knee is at an angle... cover all the surface you can see from thigh right down to the toes then start to remove. On the other leg lying stright.. again cover all the surface you can see without having the client to distort her leg and again remove the wax with the strips. Once both legs have been completed.. swap positions.. ie ... put the bent leg straight and the other leg bent and wax areas you didnt reach on the first pass. Once you have done this you should have covered the whole of the front of the thighs and calfs.

Bend the first leg and apply wax over the knee area and strip off the wax in your usual way for the knees. Repeat on other knee.

Apply some oil and massage over area so that the client doent stick to the couch..Get the client to lift and hold under her knee and apply wax to the upper thigh towards the but cheeck...it is much easier to remove in this position. Once both sides are done.. flip your client over .. and you will only have a small amount on the backs to do now. Have the client hang her feet over the bottom of the couch for comfort and apply a little oil then wax the whole area that you can see hair. Remove as before. On completion.. apply a generous amount of oil and take a paper strip and go over the whole area rubbing the strip up and down the legs removing any sticky residue and oils so that the client doesnt get it on her clothes.

Turn her over and use a new strip to remove any sticky residue from the front side. Make sure you thougherly rub and clean the residue from the toes.

Done!

HTH!

Thanks guys. And thanks for the mini tut :)

I know how long it should take

The first lady was in my salon room with my bits and bobs, I thought the wax wasn't going on well so I turned my heater up a notch (I'm using Hive creme wax), the second lady was in her own salon room at home with her stuff. She had a heater that only had a 1 & 2 'beacause she doesn't do much waxing as she more a holistic masseur'

The wax was a creme wax and pretty much as soon as it went on her leg it was setting up so I couldn't get a good layer on her legs.

I'm saving for the course with Kim but have my Acrylic foundation course with Creative starting monday and have to pay the other half of that so no spare money yet.

I would find a good quality wax that doesn't set up too fast and make sure you scrape it on thin and that should help you out a lot!

I personally don't rate the Hive waxes, thats just me though!

with practice your speed will pick up. the more you wax the quicker you will get. it takes time but it will come.

When doing a full leg this is when i love my roller the most.

I use hive roller, with hive honey wax. it makes it super fast!!

I suprised myself last night with one of my regulars, 15 mins for full leg!!

The way i do it is, leg nearest to me, bend their knee and push leg inwads, so that you can get right around the leg. I apply the wax to that whole side, and remove the wax from thigh down to ankle. then bring the leg outwards, apply and remve from thigh to ankle. Then do the inside of the other leg, then the outside. then flip em over and do the little strip thas left at the back.

Each 'side' should take about 5 mins with a roller. If i can find a willing victim i will try and get a video of how i work, which wil explain how i work from thigh downwards awell. (not promising tho as victims are hard to find lol!!)

Hi i would love to see how you do it kate, i wish kim would sell some dvd's of her work aswell hint hint, let us know kate if you do one please, thanks x

I was thinking of getting a roller system, can anyone recomend one and whats the difference between an hand held and the heater one please? thanks

I have 2 handhelds, i like them because you dnt burn your hands. the wax heats up in ten mins so its not as if you will need any more than 2 cartriges on the go at once anyway!

I know exactly how you feel! I hate when someone says they want a full leg rather than a half leg. It reminds me of the feeling I used to get when someone would ask for a french polish when I wasn't confident with them. (now i love doing them!)

I did one today with bikini and it took me about 1 hour 10 mins. I really need to stick to a good routine. I end up bending in really bad angles as I'm so engrossed in getting it done. This leaves me with backache! If I stopped clock watching and concentrated more on routine I guess it would be quicker.

I too am considering a roller system to speed things up but there are so many different opinions on them it's hard to make a decision without trying one out.

So good luck anyway, you're not alone!!

Thanks everyone

Seems like the roller is the way to go!

The lady I did last night I used her equipment as I said so I don't think the wax was getting to a high enough temp as the wax just wouldn't go on smoothly. She also has diabetes and had tan residue in patchy places all over her legs, so wondering if that had an effect last night.

The first lady I did was half German (go figure :))

Thanks again

Hi,
I have only just started waxing, and use the phd system i have only done one full leg wax, this was without bikini but i did do her armpits, eyebrows and lip. And i think this took me about 1.5hr's. I defo love this technique it seems so much quicker than the pot and spatula technique, although i have never done that, just had it done!! xx

I really do feel for you but it isn't anything that can't be fixed.

I don't get my clients in different position when doing a leg wax and never get them to help.

Apply the wax really thin, so you can hardly see it. Time yourself and improve on that time each go.

I think if you dont do full leg waxes often, they can be daunting. Dont despair.

The main thing is to have a technique. Decide whether you will do the legs first, then thighs, or whatever is easiest for you! I dont think the client has to be moved around in too many different positions though...

There are loads of ideas in the thread Sassy pointed you to...

You will get there, anything that is practical takes time to master!
