Hi,

Can I use crushed shells as nail art without using gel for example.

I guess what I'm trying to say is can these be applied any other way without being sunk into Gel or Acrylic.

I have someone who wants them on her tips but without either of the above systems.

Thanks

Well i suppose the answer is yes,
you would have to fix them to the tip with adhesive and then apply 2 or 3 coats of top coat, but i don't think the finish would be smooth and it may be annoying for the client,
do an example on a tip for the client to see and feel and then she knows what she will be getting hth

definately can be added to top coat and sealed again with 2 - 3 coats of top coat to make it last

Can someone tell me the average price I should be paying for pot of decent crushed shells, I see you can get them on e-bay but I would rather pay extra and get quality than pay less and get rubbish!

Also, what brands do you recommend for using when buying nail art striper colours.

Thanks

I have crushed shells from nsi.. not sure how much they were each but don't think they were particularly cheap. Good sized pots though 7g size. However, whilst at college on Monday, there were students that had ordered some from hong kong. Think there were 10 different colours but the pots were quite tiny, I would say about a third of what I have. They paid about a fiver for the ten pots plus shipping. Think that's mega cheap but three pots will equal my one so mine weren't too much more expensive in the end plus I have oodles of the same colour so no fear of running out.

I use stripe rite, they are a good consistency when you put them on and the brushes are lovely and fine. I bought a pro impressions one in black and you can see through it when it's applied. I have since bought a striping brush and now use acrylic paints and varnishes instead.... much cheaper. :)

Thanks Gilly,

Were the pots from Hong Kong the same sort of quality as the ones that you have from NSI?

Thanks

I had some crushed shells off the naughty place...in mini pots (very cute! lol) there is about 2 sets worth in one mini bottle (depending how much you put on of course) theres a pictue of some i did in my album (the shells were gorgeous...but it was the first time i had used them and I found it quite dfficult to do..and messy...so the nails looked ok i guess but were way too thick!)
But anyway yeah i think the shells i had were gorgeous but i havent actually compared them to any from a proper distributor to be able to say if theyre any different or not. hth a bit x

Hi Anna,

When you say naughty place do you mean E-Bay?

I have seen the mini bottles but they must be a bit minnier than I thought if you only get two sets out of them, not to worry I only want to play about with them anyway.

Thanks

Yes, they said they were from Hong Kong. The pots were quite big but the space inside them was quite small. The shell itself looked of a good quality, fairly small sized pieces which is good as I have had difficulty with larger pieces.
