hi geeks,

i'm still using nearly 100 mls per tan, i really dont know how to get this down, ive changed my gun setting to let the least amount out, do you think i maybe spraying too much? i only did one coat on my friend but i do tend to go over bits that dont look as dark as other areas, should i just stop this and will the development allow it to fix itself?

thanks

If you have turned your gun down to the lowest setting and you are still using 100ml solution, I would say you are spraying to slow. Try speeding up as you pass over each part of the body and dont 'patch up' when done. If you have sprayed each body part there is no need to spray over areas which you have already sprayed.

thanks i may try spray a bit quicker and not patching up i just dont want anything to look odd and people not be happy, do you use your gun on the horizontal pattern?

i think the guide colour is hard some times as bits do look whiter i think i'm just going to have to trust myself! how much is normal to use? xx

It does vary from person to person, but I use approx 35-40ml.

i start with face, neck, stongman postion and spray form elbow to knicker line across to other elbow and then do the back then legs last? im using vertical currently x

Hi hun, I always spray vertical, I use approx 35 ml.
I don't think it matters where you start and finish, we all have our own way of tanning someone, the inportant thing is to do it the same way every time, the more you repeat the less effort involed and the less likely you are to miss bits. Your gun should move just in front of your solution, and no there is no point in going over bits again and again, the skin grabs the tan according to it's dryness but what you are seeing is the guide colour not the developed tan so, so long as it has gone on all over, it's really there but as the guide dries it could look lighter then the last bit you spray.
What is your over spray like? Are you coating the whole room? Or do you just get a bit on the back of the tent from when they turn for you?
Have you done the couch roll test?
The idea is to put a piece of couch roll on the wall, spray with tan, and when you look at the back, the back of the second ply of the couch roll shouldn't have tan coming through.
Hope this helps you some xxxx

i just worry incase the next day it doesn't show up!

i have done the couch roll to see the overspray as i was orignally using the round position and it was really bad! i kow use the vertical but havent tried to see if it goes through, if it does go through does this mean im too close when spraying?

i'm still quite new i sussed the hands and feet and now the solution fingers crossed will be my last thing!!

I was using 100mls and really confused when people said 'i only use 30mls' !!!! I was spraying twice for no reason other than thats what I got told at training but it all depends on your natural flair I suppose (i've got my own pattern to tanning and I think like massage and some treatments you get taught one way and then adapt things a bit.)

My gun is one of those maxi mist things that sound like a hoover, even on low lots comes out so I have it on very low, dont hold to close, dont spray too slowly, dont hold down the trigger at the end of the bit I'm doing and I'm down to 50mls now, on an 'average' person! I get people to 'check their white bits' at the end of the treatment- just peel back the pants on their hip so they can see the difference, generally they are wowed! coz it only takes a 5 mins and 50mls of solution I like to remind them of the colour they came in! I dont leave their skin overly damp..

hope this helps!

If it comes through, you might be to close, but I find if I'm to close the solution beeds and runs:(
What it shows is that your gun is still set to high. If it is, turn the gun all the way of then do a quarter turn on, spray your couch roll, it should go through the first ply but not all the way through the second. If it doesn't then turn your gun another quarter turn and spray a fresh piece of couch roll. once you have that right get some typex or nail varnish and mark the top of the gun and the dial so if it gets knocked you can always put it right back where it should be. Once the couch roll is right, have a little faith in your self.
I sprayed a girl last week who was tiny, like a little doll, I used a whole 20 mils on her and fretted all night that I'd missed some, nope, she rang me the following day to ask if I could drop her some cards round for her friends. Dead chuffed and I'm re doing her on Tuesday.
Point is, I started a new bottle with her and with her second tan I break even, with her 2 friends coming along I'm in clear profit and I'll only have used 100 to 120 mils out of a 1L bottle.
