UV Gel nails are the latest innovation in the world of professional nail enhancements and are fast becoming extremely popular as an alternative to acrylic extensions. Gel nails are odour free, hard wearing and beautiful to look at. Gel is easier to master than acrylic so makes it the ideal system for beginners. Gel is sometimes called a 'pre mixed' system as it does need another chemical or product for it to work. Gel uses Ultraviolet (UV) light to make it cure or set. Clients will need to return to you every 2-3 weeks for maintenance and they may require additional services such as Nail Art Designs or a Manicure.
You will need to hold a certificate in Manicure & Pedicure Course before doing any Nail Extension Courses
The course is a three day course with two days covering the following:
Health, safety and hygiene
Client consultation and contraindications
Anatomy of the nail
Gel chemistry
Preparation of the nail
File types
Tip application
Application of gel on tips and natural nails
Aftercare
Insurance and marketing
Career options
You will then go away and produce a portfolio of evidence of 5 completed sets of nails.
On returning to complete day 3 of the course you will have a recap of the first two days. There will be an assessment of your application and then you will cover maintenance and the rebalance procedure and removal of the nails.
