Thanks x

Hi all!

No .. they do not.

This question has been asked several times in fact.

The UV Lamp from CND is exceptional value and you need to have it for full cure, best wear-ability and longevity of Shellac UV Colour Coat System. Shellac will not perform or be guaranteed if you do not use the correct UV Lamp for the service.

Only a CND lamp will cure Shellac.

I use Calgel, Brisa and now Shellac. I have a Calgel lamp, a CND Brisa lamp and now the new CND Brisa and Shellac lamp. Using the correct lamp is just as important as the product inself.

In my opinion, if you use a top end product, then don't ruin its performance and durability with trying to use it with another lamp.

That's fine I have no problem using the correct tools, I just didn't want to buy something that did the same job as something I already have.

Thanks x

What actually happens if u use a different lamp, i'm not planning on doing it as i don't have shellac and probably won't be able to afford it for a long long time just out of curiosity..is it just the bulbs that are different so could u just use the shellac bulbs in your normal lamp..just curious

Nope not just bulbs is different, the placement of the bulbs, and the distance from bulbs to nails is important too. The high end companies spend a lot of time and money to ensure proper curing to avoid problems, and ease the techniques and comfort for both client and us, thats why you should always get the lamps for the system.

There can be problems with the shellac in terms of peeling and lasting of the treatment, somebody mentioned peeling within a few days, when she tried a different lamp...

So no need to save there, the lamp is as essential for the uv-gel as the monomer is for the polymer (powder) in l&p... They might look like they match, but eventually problems will occur...

Hi there, it is not just about the bulbs in the lamp. It is also to do with placement of bulbs, the liners, etc. It is quite a scientific matter, which is why CND invest heavily into making sure they have the "right" lamp. Here are a couple of articles which may help you understand as to why you should really only use the correct lamp for your system

Nice one!!

It's more like what doesn't happen when you use a lamp that doesn't match your system. Product can look cured to the eye but it will not perform or last as guaranteed.

A FEW INTERESTING THINGS ABOUT THIS NEW AND WONDERFUL LAMP FROM CND AND SPECIFICALLY FOR CND UV CURED PRODUCTS.

1. There are more bulbs for complete curing of all five fingers or toes at one time.

2. The bulbs are positioned closer to the opening of the lamp to assure complete cure of thumbs and pinkies and smaller toes.

3. The contoured hand plate keeps fingers properly placed and the removable shelf allows plenty of room for feet and easy sanitizing of the plates.

4. Bulb use is pre-calculated to count down the time left before bulbs should be replaced.

5. The interior fan improves lamp ventilation.

6. Additional features include an easy-to-hold handle and a removable power cord.

The CND UV Lamp is the best of its kind in the world and has all the features that work for you as a CND nail technician or manicurist. It has been completely built with you in mind. Enjoy it and look after it.

One of my clients called my new lamp "the futuristic nail device!" :D

Not so sure on the nail stuff there...cos im not a nail peep LOL.

However as a UV specialist I am sure on UV stuff and this makes complete sense to me as an engineer as one that is experienced with equipment design for specific UV treatments...be it more in UV treatment of medical some scary medical conditions this still most certainly makes perfect sense to me.

UV output levels , mix and qualities of phosphates used within the lamps, the use of reflectors built into the lamp or not ,distance from the area to be treated, heat dissipation etc etc is all brought together to produce optimum results to suit specific outcome requirements(I.E. what is needed doing and how its done )

Im guessing that when you then introduce specific product curing requirements of a brand producer then sufficient research must have been undertaken to provide the necessary equipment with the relevant output values needed to optimize the curing effect and therefore do the best justice to the product and consequential brand that is possible.(I.E. wear your socks on your feet and your gloves on your..well you can guess the rest)

It therefore follows that ,not withstanding pretty ergonomic design issues(I.E, what the dam thing looks like) that a piece of equipment supplied by a brand that is designed "specifically for a curing process specific to that product) that you are best using the equipment that that brand has recommended for the best possible outcome for its product.(you wouldn't go buy a BMW component to fit your Mercedes convertible now would you )

In other words ..use the product to do a job the brand(or manufacturer ) recommends is best to do the job right for there product..

if you get what I mean LOL :hug:

you are best using the equipment that the brand has recommended for the best possible outcome for its product.

In a nutshell ... what has been said all along

Better take a bit more water in it Collin .... :D
