I am a tad confused can someone explain to me if this is correct?

If i work in a salon and i am trained in l+p nails and then i am show how to do gel nails am i ok to do them on the public? Also what about spray tans can i be show then by someone in the salon and then be ok to do them on the public?

Also will i be covered insurence wise? I would be working self emplyed?I have been told this is ok but i am unsure and would not want to do treatments on the public if i was not suppost to.

Can someone tell me also how switch machine works as they would be using them in the salon each of the girls would have there own , but i have never used one?

I would have thought no but I may be wrong, the best people to ask are your insurers.

As has been said, it is best to check with your insurance company direct as policies differ from company to company.

Re switch machine, if it is a mobile payment machine they are very easy to operate. I am sure one of your colleagues will be happy to take a few minutes to show you how they work.

Good luck!

Thanks but i would like to know do i pay for the switch machine or does the owner ?

I would also had thought no especially with spray tanning normally insurance companies like to see a certificate that you have recieved once you have done the training. You would also need to know about contra indications before working on a client ie tanning.

With the nail side i also think you would have to train in gels and recieve a certificate and then insurance before you work on paying public.

Also remember if you worked in a certain salon and they just showed you how to do something if you ever want to do tanning in another salon or switch salons i very much doubt they would take you on without a qualification.

hths

Thanks that was what i was thinking but was not sure .

To be honest i think it is best for you to get the tanning training as then you would be able to go mobile for spray tanning also its very popular x

I personally wouldn't do any treatments without the training and certificates.
Card machines you pay about £16 - £20'ish a month for them. Well, ones I was looking at. They work on,,,debit cards you get charged a fee like 31p each transaction and credit is a persentage of the amount spent...........I think thats the right way round!
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

:) Hi, I would not proceed to do anything without your certificates, sure you may be covered with the insurance, but if anything were to happen and you don't have you qualifications, all insurance will be void.

It is not worth it. Hope that helps. Just look after no 1 first. YOU...:)

The only time you would be covered to carry out a treatment that you do not hold a fully accredited certificate for is when the trainer is by your side teaching you, (the trainers insurance covers you at this point)
so no it is not ok for them to show you and then you get on with it,

the person who wants to show you must hold a teaching qualification and have the beauty/nail courses registered with a company that accredits courses such as the guild of beauty therapists,
then they would have to supply you with a fully accredited certificate once you had been trained,
this applies for all beauty treatments, hth

sorry i don't use a switch machine so cant help with that one but your bank would be able to explain about that to you.

I would personally never carry out a service on a paying client that I had not been trained to do, nor have a certificate of competancy for. I think it is very unfair of your employer to expect you to. Being shown how to do something, is not the same as being trained properly.

Check with your insurance company though.

i personally would get the qualifications for both spray tanning and gel nails, and any other treatments you may wish to move onto to.

not only will this allow you to offer other treatments safely, but you are also protecting yourself and the salon you work in, should anything go wrong.

the best way to look at your situation is to put yourself in the customers shoes. would you be happy if you went somewhere for a treatment and found out after that they werent actually qualified, and had only been shown how to do it??xx
