I have always thought that I would love to start a career in nail extensions, but it "never seemed to be the right time", then I had 2 kids and now have a part time job to cover the shortfall in the monthly bills!!! But, this weekend I am turning 30!!! I decided to go and have my nails done as a treat and was horrified at the results!! I had Gel nails for the first time (always been an acrylic girl in the past) and as she was applying them I knew they were wrong!!! Lets just say, I had them applied on saturday, I removed them tonight, as the were lifting on most nails around the sides and a few of them had already lifted under the tip!!!! I figured if she can charge £30 per set for these, I know I can do a lot better and being a bit of a perfectionist, would refuse to let anyone leave until they were just right!!! At first I looked at doing a home learning course, but I understand that this is not the best way to go. Next, I came across the Creative Nail Academy (I hope I am right in thinking that the official one is through sweet squared.com) and thought this might be the way to go. I was just wondering if anyone could advise me. Mainly how the courses are structured (I read that it is a 5 day course, are these 5 consecutive days, or is it here and there), also, do these courses cover all the essentials for starting out, and what is the best plan of action from there!!!

I really appreciate your help and advice on this matter, this is the furthest I have ever got on my dream to becoming a nail technician and now that I have taken the first step I am incredibly excited and cant wait to start, but if I am going to do this, I want to do it right from day one!!!

Many Thanks in advance

hey yes you are right the creative 5 day course is the first of many. They are absoulutly brilliant product wise and education wise, I have done all my training with them there is so much you can do with them. After your 5 day course you have got a choice of many courses lol whether it be brisa spa manicure pedicure popits loads lol. You are probably better off ringing sweet sqaured and talkin through your options with them hth xxxx

Whatever training you go for it's the hours and hours of practice that will make you a good nail tech. I don't think they emphasise this enough when you are signing up for any nail course. It all sounds like you do the training, and the next week you can work on paying clients. Not!! Be prepared to 'nail' every person you can get your hands on. Get your craft right, then work on increasing your speed. Good luck!

Hi!

Ive been looking into training as well and decided to go for CND, not only because the training looks fab but they are so helpful as well!. As far as ive gathered the 5day foundation course isnt 5 consecutive days the 1st 3 are run together then you have another day 2 weeks later and the 5th day a month after that! then you get time to practice inbetween.

Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone, I plucked up the courage to give them a ring today. Now I am really excited!!! Hopefully, if I can rearrange a few days at work I might be able to start training in 3 weeks!!!!!!!! (I just got butterflies in my tummy as I typed that!!!) xxx

Well done its all practice practice practice from now on lol xxx
