Hi all.

My client has virgin hair and wants balayage.

Ideally I just want to use a highlift tint to get it to about a base 8.

Can anyone recommend the best highlift tint to use?

I think you're going to have to use lightener. A highlift on that is going to give a very warm tone. It is also hard to balayage with highlift tint because of the consistency

I 9/10 times use lightener when doing balayage as I like to be able to tone to the desired level x

Why don’t you combine a high lift and a weaker lightener? As said above, it’ll be hard to get to a clean level 8 with high lift, but then it depends on your desired tone! I’d blend sections of a lightened with 10vol with HLT (maybe a 12/81 to cancel some warmth) with 40vol, so different pieces have different dimension, and use the lightener around the front for the beautiful “money piece” effect that clients love with balayage! Thank you all for your help! Xx
