Hi Everyone!

I'm thinking of doing the VTCT skin care qualification in the New Year when the next course starts.

I was wondering that if i pass this course, would i be able to go mobile with this or do you think that i would be better off trying to get a job in a beauty salon or try and further my training (if they'd have me)with a skin care company like clarins or clinique? Is college the only answer if you want to learn skin care and make up?

I would be interested in your opinions:green:

Thanks,

Tallony:)

The two things are quite different really - the VTCT qualification will enable you to offer facials and make-up, but if you were to work on the Clarins or Clinique counter in a dept. store, then you would be a salesperson, recommending and demonstrating products. So... they are two different job. Which one appeals?

I would realy love to work for myself, but i feel i would need experience and different product knowledge as far a skin care is concered.

I am hopeing to combine my nail enhancements with skin care and make-up.

Thanks

Tallony:)

The thing is, if you work with Clinique or Clarins, you will only gain knowledge of their own product range. In order to offer facials, say as a self employed therapist, you would need to invest in a skincare range to use, and it would then be normal (and often compulsory) to attend product training with that company.

Learning about skin conditions and skincare comes with experience of working with skin. It takes time, the more skin you see, the more you are able to recognise and understand it. You could always do the VTCT and get a p/t job on a skincare counter at the same time. This way, you would probably learn some good ways to retail too.
