.....am really scared!

at the mo I have a lovely Nokia 5200 on Virgin which I love, love love. Its nowt flash, a slidey thing and does what I want it to do.

but

I'm on pay as you go, and it was £10 a month, now £10 every 2-3 weeks. It HAS been the school holidays and have been using it a lot more to ring my son up (6+ times a day). I do find that I am relying on it a lot more to ring clients etc.

So,

I would only want something that was £15 a month for free calls/texts, etc, but I find it all so damned frightening and daunting. When they go on about 200 free texts and 100 free minutes, I actually hear " blah blah blah blah" - it means nothing to me at all.

What do I use my phone for:
 calls
 text
 nowt else

Suggestions (non scarey) appreciated.

Hi Ann,

How about this: Virgin Mobile (uk) - Pay monthly You get to keep your current moby so no trying to fathom out how to work the bloomin' thing.

I've just recently changed my phone & I know what you mean about how complicated & scary it all is. In the end I went for the one I liked the colour of - shiny blue:). Two weeks later still trying to suss it out. In fact it was ringing the other day, for ages as it was, before I realised that yep it was my phone :)

wow! thats great! thanks Sarah, I've already gone for the 300 minutes and 1000 texts per month. Wahoo!

got to remember my password thing and then I am away with it!

O2 do a monthly contract where you have their simcard in your phone and you can choose from £15, £20, £25 depending on what mins and txts you need and you can cancel by giving them 30 written days notice.

boo! hoo!

I applied for the offer (above) but on rereading it, said if I wanted to keep my original number I would have to call them.
I emailed them last night to query this.

got a call today from virgin saying that they would need to cancel my order as it would just come with a new number, the operator then offered to take my new order over the phone.

I told him I didn't feel comfortable giving my card details over the phone as he rang me, and he could be anyone. He assured me that he was a genuine virgin operator and read out the ref: number from my email but I still didn't feel comfortable.

he told me to ring virgin from my mobile to go ahead with the order. To cut a long story short, I got someone from India who didn't have a clue what I was talking about, put me on hold every 15 seconds, and then said the order was for 200 minutes and 1000 text, I just didn't feel that I was getting a good enough service so said I would leave it, I dont think he knew what I wanted and I didn't have a clue what he was offering me.

so back to square one.

I have re-emailed virgin to tell them what happened.

it looks like a good deal but £20 a month is a bit much. I baulked at £15 per month, so thats just way to much for me.

They have a £15 tarrif that's the one I'm on.

I didn't see that one, it went on about saving money and started at £20. will take another lookie, but am still thinking of going with virgin.

got a choice of 150 minutes and 1000 texts or
300 minutes and 300 texts.

just don't know which one to go for!

off to take another look at 02

Ok guys,
thanks.
Just signed up with virgin who I was with originally, so I don't have to worry about unlocking, etc.

appreciate your answers.

Ria, I couldn't find the £15 rate, the lowest was £20.

Glad to hear you're sorted I'll put up the link to the page showing £15 in case anyone else was interested:lol:
Tariffs - O2 pay monthly SIM only tariffs

Hi hun, I know you got it sorted :) but you could have tried 3 mobiles who have great tariffs, and you can port your number from payg to contract or contract to payg on any network. Might be helpful for someone else and it's usually better to go network direct too. :)
