i was thinking of getting a cheap set of acrylic set off ebay and practing on a false hand before i start my cnd course, would i be better off saving my money and just waiting or go for it and practice like mad?

Short answer, no! You won't get a 'Head start' by attempting to learn with no training and the wrong or inferior products. Wait for your course and practise with confidence. Enjoy! :)

I agree, you wont gain anything at all trying to use products you dont know how to use.

If you are keen to learn though I would get myself a copy of Doug Schoons Book, 'Nail structure and product chemistry'.

Its a long read but its great for building a solid foundation.

I would spend the time before the course doing some good reading.

i think il hold off untill the course, im going to get that book and read as much as i can befoe the course, my one problem is im doing a 6 day course with creative its gel and acrylic im confussed as to how there going to teach ppl gel and acrylic in 6 days :!:

tidy, have faith!

Having trained with creative I can assure you that your training will be well planned and excellently delivered. your trainer will ensure you have all the skills to be able to do both. However, you will need to be ready to practise practise and practise (which is where the fun is eh?).

good luck with the course and enjoy! oh and another fab book is gigi rouse nailclass. its my bible and i think once you have have done the course, you might want to look at investing in it as it contains fanastic hints and help.

keep us posted how you get on and best of luck to you!

I trained in L&P with Young nails, and although it was over 4 days, there were weeks in between each class, in which you had stundying to do and practical as well, practicing what you have learned on friends and family, taking pictures to document your progress, and after you qualify there is still a lot of practicing and learning to do as well...hth x
