Water marbling

Does anyone know why when doing water marbling, some polishes just stick as a droplet and dont spread?

I always use creative polishes and i have found that in some case (matt colours mainly) they dont spread out and can leave a bump on the nail.

any suggestions please.

I noticed this too
the opi polish I used spread fine and I dropped in one colour of cheapy stuff I had and it got really water & diluted looking with hardly any color to it. I was wondering if it was something like water based, vs. oil based. You know how oil floats on top of water. maybe thats why the cheapy stuff doesn't stay on as long & chips too?

All you need to do is give it a gentle stir with a tooth pick or dotting tool and it should spread out. The fun is when the droplet just sinks to the bottom and you try and fish it out!!! :lol:

LOL!! my water wasn't warm enough once and when I gave it a swirl with my dotting tool, all the polish stuck and came out with it hahaha

:lol: it really is hit & miss isn't it. i haven't done it for some time - opted for the easier method of paint and a dotting tool - but when it works the patterns are amazing!!

I think that the cheaper, waterier (if there's such a word!) polishes work better - when i was doing the course i used polishes that came out of a manicure kit thing from Debenhams - by Markwin (?) and they worked no probs but the better quality ones sank to the bottom.

With all this talk, i think i'm gonna go off and play!
