Hi

I went to a clients house to do a leg wax and she informed me that after last time some of the wax residue had gone on her trousers, she had washed them but it didn't come out, any ideas how to remove it.
She got her wax free last night as I felt so bad.

Thanks
Becky

If she puts some baby oil straight onto the wax on the trousers and then rubs at it with a cloth, it tends to get most of it off. If there is a lot, she can scratch at it with her nail, but the oil gets the excess of.

Then wash again to remove the oil.

I do this to my own clothes if i ever get it on me and it always works. I'm not too sure about it being washed first because it will have set a lot harder, but it should still be ok.

good luck x

Waxing is a messy service, no doubt about that.

It is important that the client is free of wax after their service. If you apply some of the pre-oil you use during your service, then take a clean wax strip and go over where you waxed it will take it right off.

Besides washing the garment after putting a spot remover on it, the only other route I would go is to pay to have her bring it to a dry cleaner. If it's that bad that a dry cleaner couldn't get the spot out, I would then replace the garment. I hope you have seen this spot!

That was noble of you to give her a free service, above and beyond really. Giving services away for free can open up a big can of worms :D

I personally would use surgical spirits. As soon as the wax is on clothes or even towels cover with surgical spirits then pop in the wash or even put surgical spirits onto cotton wool and leave it to absorb the wax. But i'm not sure if it will remove it once it's been washed but it's worth a try but just remember for next time if it happens again.

Thanks girls, will pass it on and hope it works.

Yeah I have done the same with baby oil and it worked well. I also use the wax equipment cleaner aswell if it goes onto clothes or carpets.

just a thought ? would it not freeze off ie put the trousers in the freezer over night and just crumble it of whilst it still feezing cold it works with bubble gum

no dont put it in the freezer you just end up with really cold wax. It doesnt do the same as bubble gum.

That was my experience anyway.

you could try using an iron and paper towels to absorb the wax.

put the paper towel on the trousers and use you iron to melt the wax. the liquefied was will then be absorbed by the paper towel.the iron will melt the wax .

Hope this works for you,

Rick

This method works, I have tried it before :)

She shouldn't have kept her trousers on for a leg wax (a bit silly really). Rather than ruining the trousers, she's better off getting them dry cleaned with the money she saved from her free leg wax. xx

Stretch the part of the material with wax over a jug/bowl/basin and pour boiling water over it. Wash as normal.
Works for me !:)

You never said if it was warm or hot wax.
If it was warm wax, get hold of some wax equipment cleaner from Ellisons/ Sally/Capital etc, then rub some on the area where the wax is, then wash immediately. It always gets spots of wax out of my salon towels with no problem.
