Hi there skin geeks....

I need a little advice:

Has anyone waxed a blind client? Im sorry if that sounds a little bad...i didnt know how else to put it.

A lovely lady has booked in for brow, top lip, lower arms, legs & bikini,,,,,

She will be here by herself & her guide dog..

I know that during procedures with the blind you have to maintain contact at all times as the other senses are hightened. Of course i will be talking to her throughout.

Any more useful advice from personal experience would be great x

I have never been in that position but I think my best advice would be to just ask her how she would like things done. Be honest and then let her be in control and I'm sure all will go well and she will appreciate your thoughfulness to her.

Just be your usual friendly self and be chatty and all will be fine,
try to treat her as you would anyone else,
people with disability's appreciate when you treat them just as you would anyone else,
i have a client who is deaf who comes for nails and we have a great laugh together,
after her appointment you will wonder why you had any worries

I do and asked the same advice as you about 2 years a gothe thread will be some where .She has now been a client of mine for all that time.
You will probably find as i did that she will lead you and make you more comfortable than the other way round remember shes the one with all the experience.
Just do tell her what you are doing, help her as much as she may need but dont over do it and dont worry if you say things like did you see such and such or hand her a mirror to have a look at her eyebrows :)

good communication is the key and all will go smoothly

:idea:Much more smoothly than if the circumstances were the other way round of course :)

Awww thanks geeks...

Lol she did crack a joke about me waxing the dog when she booked....

Im sure it will be fine ....... I just didnt know if there was anything specific i should be aware of ......

Just be your usual, lovely self and treat her as normal. xx

Thank you All....I will update on Friday x

I have a friend thats blind, and im myself i dont emphasise that she is blind. she always comments that im the only one who does this and she loves me for me.
she hates the fact that people treat her different because she has a disability.
I once took her to the hair dressers and when it was her turn i just shouted come on trace your turn babe, jumped up and wallked to chiar to hold it out for her and looked back and realised all the hairdressers were staring at me in disgust. She was sat laughing her head off cos the salon had gone quiet and said I would come debs IF I COULD SEE WHERE IM BLOODY GOING......... and im like oh yea sorry babe I forgot you couldnt see. Luckily faye her guide dog had got up and started walking towards me so i just guided her to the chair.

The hairdresser commented to tracey that i was rude to her and needed to get another friend who took care of her needs.
Tracey replied she takes care of my needs completely thankyou, she treats me like a human being, not someone who is blind.
so just be yourself and dont emphasize on the fact she is blind you will do just fine x

Well.....it was fab!

I asked her if she would like to have a walk around the salon & described the colours & layout,,,,she loved that...

I talked to her throughout the treatment, which she enjoyed, we had a great convo...

She was more than happy with the service...She was with me for approx 1 hour 15 mins which i feel is quite good for me....

Im soooo happy ..... she has re-booked for 6 weeks time.....
