hi there my fiance just pointed something out to me lol thats why i am asking this question. do all you other therapist wear gloves when waxin especially waxing bikini and mens backs where can get some blood spotting especially when hair is very course and thick. i wear gloves when doing a hollywood which can be hard but not other waxing as it really annoys me and just gets in the way. but he pointed out to me that i aint really protecting myself really as how do i know whether i have a small cut and then put my hand straight on to sooth the area. just one of those discussions we were having (him being annoying and asking what waxing involves lol :smack:) but it got me thinking and just wondered if anyone else has ever really thought about it

I wear disposable gloves for ALL waxing treatments. For my safety and the clients too. You do get used to it quickly if you make yourself do it all the time.

I always wear gloves too, not just for infection control but to protect my nails as I'm a messy blighter and always end up with wax stuck on them!
I got some really tight fitting ones, so they don't bother me at all. The ones at college we awful as they were too big for me and they got in the way!
I think aswell if you are not used to wearing gloves it would feel awkward to begin with but I'd presevere If I were you hth xx

Hi,

I wear gloves for all intimate treatments, but not for backs / nostrils / feet etc. I generally don't have any small cuts / nicks on my hands to worry about blood->blood transfer. If I do have a cut, it's either got a plaster on or I would consider a glove if it was more serious.

Gloves are a pain though. Class never taught me you can oil gloves to stop the wax sticking to them. Just keep a pump action bottle of your favourite oil (with a little Tea Tree and Jasmin in) on your troley for your gloves. tap tap on the pump and you're done. Lovely!

Ditto. My preference is vinyl. Tight fitting. I don't get on with latex at all and don't really like nitrile either. But gloves are easy peasy when you get used to them.

I wear gloves for all waxings, generally use Nitrile at the moment. Latex aren't very good as they have too much drag on them.

The main reason I wear gloves is so that when I get bits of wax on them I can rip them off and put on another one. And when i'm done I finish with nice clean hands. If the glove gets a bit sticky I just rub a tiny bit of After Wax long my hands and that soon sorts them out.
