Ok we all know we should not wax these ladies as it is a contraindication to treatment. But do any of u therapists work around this by only waxing the area were there is no protuding veins. I have a client whome has some nobbly variocouse veins and has litterally begged me to do them and to be fair i am very sceptical about doing them as these ladies tend to be more sensitive to bruising and so fourth. So my question is begging a side would you wax any one with varicouse veins and if so how would you go about it.

god i love this forum

If I had bad veins and wanted them waxed, I'd just make sure that I didn't rip the strip off with force over the veins. Better still, I'd use non strip wax and remove gently. xxx

I am not a skin geek, but surely contra indications are contra indications whatever your field of expertise nails or waxing.

If varicose veins are a contra indication for waxing surely that is it, you cannot carry out the treatment.
If you do and something goes wrong, your Insurace would not cover you.

I personally wouldn’t touch protruding varicose veins with waxing; I just wouldn't take the risk. I would only wax in areas below the veins or an area not affected; friend or not, it's in their own best interest not to do it.

Its common sense really. If a person had a lot of veins and had obvious signs of very bad circulation ie the legs were very discoloured, lots of broken veins any swelling no i wouldn't touch, but like Kim if there were only a few that could be gently waxed around yes i would do.

I dont think any therapist would wax over them.

I have actually spoken with the lady today. She has two large ones on the front of her legs. She explained that she has been having them waxed for a long time now and the last time she had them done was at our local college. She said they waxed the areas away from the veins and she tweezers the rest out. I am still not convinced, i understand she wants them doing as would i. at the end of the day my clients safety comes first. I will see what i am dealing with before i make my final decission but to be honest i think she may be disapointed.

it is not recommended waxing for persons suffering from diabetes or who have varicose veins no matter how large or small or poor circulation as they are more susceptible to infections. but you can if you get GP permission just depends on the severity of the veins ...i edited my reply because i have just had a lady with some little varicose veins ask me about waxing & on closer inspection and the go ahead from her doc ..you can work round them in small sections but not over them.it is best to spend the extra 10 mins plucking them out manually with tweezers.you could try the satin smooth cream wax it's great on sensitive skin areas and you can work with it in small sections

Yes definately assess her first and then make your decision just do what you feel is right.
Many therapists do not always follow every rule for conraindications. There would be a heck of a lot of poor people missing out on being able to have all sorts of beneficial treatments if they did.especially diabetics they wouldn't be able to have anything,im surprised a haircut isn't contraindicated:)
