Has anyone got any tips on how to make waxing less messy?
I hate waxing and just can't seem to do it. If i had my way i wouldn't do it but it seems to be popular.

Any tips would be helpful.
Thanks xxx:confused:

I think waxing is messy too! I always wipe the underside of the spatula after loading it. I follow this by scraping the rim too(one side then the other) which buys you more time before the wax starts to drip.

Hmmmm I wouldn't say it was messy the strings from the hard wax is usually my only mess and they just brush off!

What do you mean by messy?

Dripping wax off the spatula when carrying it to the client? (If so scrape of the excess wax from the back of the spatula and then twirl twirl twirl till you get to the client! Also try moving your waxing trolly closer to the area you'll be working on.

If the mess is in your hands when holding the spatula then don't dip the spatula in so far and if it goes on your hands then rub it off with some oil x

I was wondering this too!

I am the messiest bugger going, and i dont really get in a mess when waxing!!
Although i have found wax up my wall and on my glasses before lol. I wondered why stuff was a bit blurry!! :D

Mostly it is paying attention to the wax, slowing down and trying to be calm instead of fast. Keep one hand on the client where you are going to apply the wax, the other hand is dipping into the wax. The dipping hand is the one you stare at, get enough product on your spatula for your area but not so much you can't control it. Because you have your other hand where you are going to apply, it will be very easy to know where you are now going with the spatula.

I hope that makes sense, this is one of those things (as silly as this may sound) that I learned I did after making my first Speed Wax DVD and got to watch. So...one hand on the forehead/brow, the other hand picking up some wax. Or one hand on the bikini, the other hand picking up the wax. Twist/turn the spatula so it doesn't drip. If it is soft wax, hold the spatula flat to the floor, if it is hard wax, slowly twirl the spatula to keep it in a ball.

This is one of the things that I get my students to perfect when I'm training (talking strip wax here):-

1. Dip your spautula in the wax pot, wipe one side clean, then start slowly twisting the spatula . I say slowly because I see people spinning it around like candy floss and it goes everywhere. Don't start twisting with your spatula pointing downwards.......hold it straight, otherwise the wax will run off the spatula. Don't come away from the pot until there is no wax dripping or running off the spatula, then keep twisting until you wipe the wax on the body.

All of things takes 2 seconds but the more you pratice, the better you'll get.

I always worry the wax will cool off too quickly whilst twirling?

This is another thing (don't get me started LOL). You have to do all this super quick. as soon as the wax is out of the heater, it starts to set. So from pot to person, should be 2 to 3 secs.

Hi hun, if u can get the whole ball of wax dvd, it is amazing. It has come to me today and wow what can i say it has tought me allot in one sitting x

I have heard you talking about this before hun.where did you get it and how much? x

You have to experience a variety of waxes and be proficient in your technique - only by practice and with the best tutor

hi all

which warm wax would you say is the best to work with?

I work with babyliss satin gold right now and having a few problems not with the dipping and applying coz i always wear gloves,

but i do find is that its not that runny if you know what i mean, if i higher it up it does, then its to damn hot and have to turn it down, if i turn it down i find it goes thicker still runnyish but then sets quicker and because my treatment room is quite warm anyway i find when i,m pulling away now and again is set and i do work pretty quick well as quick as i can anyway.

my wax pot is the single babliss pot.
what setting should it be on i usually put it on 3.5 to 4

im currently use babyliss satin smooth preminium gold wax to as i find its less sticky and i put mine on 3 setting but dont feel its economical enough as it doesnt go along way thinking of changing but the only problem is a few clients have commented they prefer it to the previous soft wax i was using as it contains manuka oil in this one and looks shiny, so me changing it again will look like im not sure which wax i should be using.

I don't want to turn this into yet another BRAND thread instead of an informative thread, as it should be. So, I suggest you try a cheap wax and a more expensive wax and see which one works for you. Make sure it's heated so it's nice and thin and spread it really thin. xxx

I've been using satin smooth for over 5 years now
and I will not use anything else, my favorite is the zinc oxide.
always remember to watch the temperature of the wax
don't use the wax if it's too low in the pot or it will be too hot and then the wax will be messy.
